I like the wave better personally, but most people I've asked like the ripstick better. the general difference of ripsticks (that I'm aware of) is the following: the middle is longer and has a grip. because of the middle axels length, it accelerates faster. but when you come down to it, top speed depends upon -your- leg strength. Most beginers find it easier to learn with a ripstick. The grip on each is in different places, and the way I place my footing, it is easier to stay on a waveboard. When there is a ton people with waves and rips all over the place, its fun to have a fight and try to knock each other off. They each are built in a way so that it is easy to catch yourself painlessly if you fall.

I found that the ripstick bends to easy and can easily lose control. the wave is better and reconmeded and if you want to do tricks you will want a wave not a ripstick. they are totally different rides. You can got farther with the wave. The only problem is that its heavy but not muvh differents in weight then the ripstick [@]

The Wave is the original street surfing board. It is extremely easy and safe to learn. Thanks to The Ripple, a smaller, lighter version of The Wave, now younger kids can ride with their older sibs or friends. Yes, the wheels wear down, but if you are an aggressive board rider, that's expected to happen. People breaking their limbs is a very odd occurence. Most likely they aren't learning safely or working with a partner when starting out.
Buy The Wave. I've lost over 25 lbs. riding this inline board and love every minute I'm on it. Cheers to Street Surfing for making such an awesome, new indoor/outdoor boarding experience (It can be used on gym floors with no permanent marking!).

Buy it over the Razor Ripstik! as people have said, the wave is more durable. plus, it is the original. give the small-but-growing company some credit for its awesome invention, instead of some huge corporation that will barely be affected by your purchase.
if you can get over your deflated ego from riding a toy built for 11 year olds, the wave is fun for all ages (im Jr in highschool and still think its awesome).
the wave is basically a snowboard for asphalt... carving down hills has the same feeling--though it is more dangerous. my friend and i are going to go around our town and color code the botton of street signs with green, blue, and black stickers to indicate how difficult a "run" it is...it will be the first "wave resort"!
propelling yourself is fun, and good for flat, but not super useful going uphill... but even without that, the wave is solid, good fun.

Really fun to "Bomb" hills on. Scary at first as you drift to the sides. Wheels will wear down fast if you're riding on the street. Stick with sidewalks and smooth parking lots and they should last a bit longer. Not as practical as taking a longboard as transportation to and from say work as an example. Spinning's great, smooth natural feeling, great snowboard feel.

I know this is a combo of snowboarding, skating, and surfing, but I really just sense the snowboarding. When going downhill, you really real the carving, and its smooth. Ive hard this for almost 1 year, and the wheels are in perfect condition, very durable. Not really ment for uphill.
