I know, I know! You're thinking how can this ball machine be any good when others are offered at [$] plus, right? Well if you are looking for a economical way to groove your forehand and backhand and overheads, you can't go wrong with this machine. Filled with 30 balls, if tosses one every 5 seconds, which gives you a great 2 1/2 minute drill. I usually do around 8 loads (240 balls) from various positons on the court; i.e., short ball down the line, short serve return cross court and down the line, long balls you can crank from the base line and then volley drills and overheads both forehand and backhand. You will hit more balls this way, with just 8 loads then you would in 3 or 4 sets of singles and you will have worked as hard, if not harder, depending on whether you retreat a bit and then run up to the ball, switch from backhand to forehand, etc., or not! I am personally drained after 1 1/2 hours or so and I play 2 to 3 sets of singles just about every day! I bought the machine to teach my grandchildren to play but it now serves that purpose as well as helping to improve my game when nobody is available to play! As for the battery life, well it seems too good to be true, but I now have probably 20 plus hours on the machine and the original 6 "d" dollar store batteries show no sign of giving up. It still tosses the balls exactly the same distance as it did when the batteries were freshly installed! I keep it set at the 20' toss setting and then just move the machine closer or further away from the net, depending on the shots I want to practice. Put it on the other side of the net, around 2 to 3 foot back from the net and then you get to pound 30 overheads, for 2 1/2 minutes. If you don't think that is a workout alone...wait till you try it!Overall, I think this machine is excellent for the price, (it was shipped free when I bought it)it's light, portable, easy to load and a excellent, consistent, silent oponent who never tires out! It's also an excellent machine to teach a child to catch or even practice hiting for that matter. Plus tennis balls don't break heads or windows!!! Set it up on your lawn and let it fire away and the kids really do like to load it and watch the balls spiral down as they queue up for launch! I wish I thought of inventing this thing!!!

This machine shoots the balls at about 10 mph max. It has 5 settings to adjust the arc of the ball. The ball flies about 10 feet on the lowest to 20 feet on the highest. On the lowest setting it will shoot one ball every 5 seconds but on the higher settings it takes 10-15 seconds between balls. I think the plug in model would work more efficiently on the higher settings. Bottom line, it's excellent for beginners but intermediate and up may be unsatisfied.

Comments about Tennis Tutor Tennis Twist Ball Machine - Battery Powered Model:

The ball is released very slowly and doesn't bounce very high. I have the battery version, for which the instructions indicate that the expected battery life is about 5 hours. It requires 6 D batteries. As a true novice, I can use this to practice my drills. My non-tennis playing kids are entertained while the adults play. But any slightly skilled player would probably get more benefit playing against a wall.

considering the cost of other ball machines, it's worth the price if you're willing practice with very simple feeds.

I would recommend but barely. You get what you pay for. [$] won't get you a [$]system. I don't use this anymore, as i have gotten myself a better system. This is a average system, not hard to use. Don't expect balls to go fast or far, maybe 8-10 feet. Bottom line-good for beginners and/or children. Not good for anyone else.
