I purchased an Alpine Zero Gravity chair from Sports Authority around 2006-07. That one was "zero gravity". This one I purchased from here last week in blue and it is not zero gvavity. It only reclines back. You feet do not go high enough and your upper body doesn't go low enough for it to be a zero gravity chair. I will be returning it this week even though it was on sale for [$].It shouldn't be advertised as zero gravity. It did seem sturdy, and the eyeholes for the bungee cord are now made of stainless steel. Replacement cord can be purchased online if you Google it or through [@]
As I have now read from others here, I too have a chair where the string has just deteriorated. I have been searching everywhere to find replacement string and no one has it. What a waste of money!!!!!
The string or chord holding the seat and backing just fell apart. I woulkd like to obtain some spare chord in order to repair it. My phone is [@].Ralph
These chairs lasted for 1 Northeast Summer (3 months)... They were stored indoors over the non-summer months and we brought them out this summer and after just 2-3 uses the cord tore from the frame. The chairs have been sitting in our garage all summer while I tried to get Sports Authority to replace them but they would not. Unfortunately, I just missed the 1 year guarantee. The only people who used the chairs during the short lifespan were petite woman who are well below the weight guidelines so I would be surprised if these chairs last for ANYONE.
I bought this zero gravity chair to replace an old metal one that had stretched out the fabric and especially the elastic cords around the sides. This one has a sturdy plastic frame, which is much lighter and easier to move than my old one. It seems very sturdy and is very comfortable. I use it on my screened in porch or back deck. I was pleased with the price compared to other websites.
This chair for the sale price is a great deal. Very comfortable well built steal tube design. I was going to buy a similar chair for $20 more but seeing this I could not resist. The other chair had wood inlaid arm rests these are plastic. I thought the plastic would hold up better while camping if it gets wet. The materials use are of good quality not sure how long the elastic bands will hold up but looks like they can be replaced if needed. They are a bit heavier but it's steel tubing not aluminum like a regular old fasion lounge chair. Only weak point I see is the locking mechanism is plastic and on the floor model I tried it was jammed, you don't need to wrench them tight to lock the chair. The chairs from the rack worked better. These chairs look like they will last a long time if taken care of properly (by folding them up and keeping them out of the weather when not in use).
