I purchased this product on Wednesday, built it, and took it to the field. My 13 year old son and I were so excited (my pitching arm is not what it used to be). That when I realized what a piece of junk this unit was. The first pitch almost took off his head. I went through the painstaking task of changing the height, shot a test ball and all looked good. My son steps in the box, and I almost pegged him again. What happens is, that after every pitch the machine moves, and the ball is no longer a strike. It is very hard to deal with and was a worthless waste of time. You also must press a bar down with your foot with would not be easy for weaker, younger, or older people. Bottom line is if you want your child to understand and enjoy baseball this product is not for you. You can get a better machine for $200.00, I was lucky enough that I brought it back on Thursday. Sports Authority was very good about taking it back.
Comments about Louisville Slugger - The Blue Flame Ultimate Pitching Machine:
I use this pitching machine for my 13 year olds softball team batting practice. I also use it for my sons 11-12 year old baseball team batting practice. It is similar to having a pitcher pitching to you but you don't have to worry about getting beaned as much as the side to side variance between pitches is small.
I have found the cheaper baseballs with the simulated leather produce more consistent results whereas scuffed leather balls tend to sail high more often. Also, if you wait 2-3 seconds after pressing the spring lever down before pulling the release lever you get a more consistent pitch. Another way I have used this machine is to put the hard plastic softball sized wiffel balls in it and had batting practice in areas that were too small to have regular batting practice in crowded parks etc.
I recommend this pitching machine to anyone who is interested in improving the performance of their players. If it seems to slow for them then they can move closer to the machine. However, between 11-13 years old at 45' from the plate it is plenty fast. There are many things you can do with this machine to help save the coaches shoulders like send them fly balls line drives or grounders during practice sessions.
It is an awesome machine and the homeruns keep coming after training with this machine.

i would not listen to the cons of this product for the poeple who buried it have zero machanical skills an dont want to lift a finger, yes this machine moves if u dont use it properly, common sense says it all. i used this product doing batting practice which usually takes a good hour going thru 12 kids. it cut the time almost in half an we were able to work on other skills an the kids loved it an it boosted their attension. we had a great time at practice an this doesnt get old for the kids. we can now work on hitting all corners of the plate . i think its awesome. only thing i dont like is lugging it in an out my car on an off an on the field along with all the other equipment but its worth while

Comments about Louisville Slugger - The Blue Flame Ultimate Pitching Machine:
I've been involved in baseball for well over 20 years. Im currently coaching 6-8 year olds in a coach pitch league. The kids were getting more bad pitches than good. I saw this machine on YouTube and heard awesome reviews. I purchased it & after 2 practices we now use it in every game. The kids who were timid or had a "stepping out" problem are now crushing the ball. Its surprisingly accurate, consistent and easy to adjust. Now the League is implementing this machine as the pitcher instead of the coach. It teaches kids to swing properly instead of upper cutting. Huge confidence builder for young hitters!

Great, simple pitching machine. Very easy to adjust pitch speed & distance for all skill levels. My 5year old loves it--pitches are accurate & easy to time.

This machine is so acurate we use it instead of a tee to work on swing mechanics. Great for getting in a lot of good swings in a short amount of time...

We use the pitching machine for our 7 year old son and take it to baseball practice as well. We are so glad that we bought the pitching machine. It is light weight and easy to set up. We have noticed a big improvement in the boys hitting.
