Comments about Jugs Small Ball Pitching Machine Package:
I think the Jugs Small Ball machine will improve my kids' eye and swing, but I was a little disappointed in it. First of all, the machine has two speeds: Slow and Fast, nothing in between. It also cannot throw from the pitcher's mound, it has to be set up 20-ft or closer from the batter. The "curve ball" that it throws is simply a sinker. The wheels are in a fixed vertical position, so you cannot throw a real curve ball. I have had issues with the ball coming out of the feeder and tumbling and slipping on the wheels, rather than being grabbed by the wheels and thrown. It happens about one in every twelve pitches, and forces you to either push the ball through manually, or wait till the next ball drops out of the feeder, and then two balls come out at the same time. I do like the auto feeder though. it allows me to fill the machine and then help the kids on their swing...until a ball gets stuck. Lastly, it is not very consistent. It seems there are weight and density differences between the small balls. I wouldn't consider this a huge deal, because it is good for the kids to get something thrown at them other than strikes all the time, but the description did lead me to believe it was very consistent. Would I buy it again??? Hard to say. It's a good tool, but I question whether it is worth the money...my kids like it, so I probably would :)
