Spalding®'s "The Beast" Tempered Glass 74560 60-in Portable Basketball System is sturdy and durable thanks to a 1/4-in tempered glass backboard with a heavy-duty steel frame trimmed in aluminum. The screwjack lift allows you to move the basket anywhere from 7.5 ft to 10 ft. This system also features a Pro-Image® breakaway rim and a 50-gal capacity dual ballast base.

    Purchased this hoop for pick up games and family fun. My Son and I put it together in about 5 hours. However I cannot get the bolts to fit through the front protective cover on the bottom. The rest of the setup was quite easy, but be careful because this unit is very top heavy.I constructed the unit on the ground, so when you lift it up you will need at least two people, but you need to hold on to the post with no water it will tip easily! I used my tree to put the two posts together, laying cardboard in front of the tree and then me and my son rammed the two poles together.Directions say to round out the holes but had not probelms with bolts sliding through the posts. Besides the front cover not fitting correctly, the base is flimsy plastic! My friend sat on the base so it would not tip and now the plastic base is indented and will not come out. [...] has this unit for [$] and Sports Authority will price match, with the print out of the price. Did my research best price out there for this unit new! For this price best unit out there, looked at several at many different stores. Stay away from flimsy acrylic thin backboards on other units they just break on jump shots. This unit has a 1/4 inch thick backboard, very sturdy. I would recommend purchasing the 2yr extended warranty for $90. If anything happens they send someone to the house to fix a backboard or any problems you may have. Very happy with this unit for the price!

    BEWARE OF WATER TANK LEAKS!!!!!

    We have had this basketball system for 2 years. It was difficult to set up - - - took 3 grown men two days to assemble.

    Once assembled, the system was fantastic for about a year - - then the leaks started. The water tank is now leaking in at least two spots. I was able to repair one spot with a water tank repair kit, but our newest leak is behind a metal bracket and is impossible to get to. There's a watery mess everywhere, and absolutely no way to stop the mess or the water levels continuously dropping to unsafe levels. For the price of this system, I expected a better water tank than this.

      Two words of advise - two men must setup - heavy at times. When putting the two poles together - do not use wood to set the poles, fold the cardboard instead. The wood dampens the driving force too much. Otherwise, fantastic system. Well worth the money.

                    If your a total pro or perfectionist install an In ground model. Portables will always have a little less stability and smaller backboard. For the average home player however, you'll never notice the difference and the Beast will be cheaper and afford more flexibility than an in ground. Between the base and the overhang resulting from its slanted design this unit has a pretty big footprint so make sure you have enough space. An In ground has no base and a vertical post so they work out better in smaller courts. Assembly was done by me and my wife without difficulty. Parts well labeled and instructions clear. You need a good socket extender and deep sockets. Plan on 3-4 hours if your taking your time. Moving the unit and adjusting height is no problem Play is great and our family has been outside every night for the last few weeks using the hoop. Seems to hold up well to competitive play. Bottom line, if you require or desire a portable this is the one. Very pleased with ours.

                      I don't understand how they can call this portable. This is flat out ugly and looks horrible in a driveway. Way to large to fit in an average driveway or street. The base is the size of a car, it is not easy to move and even harder to turn. Furthermore, it is unstorable... you can't ever hide this or put it away. You may as well install an above ground pool on your front lawn!

                      Great quality-Fantastic feel. It just doesn't get any better than this portable. Save your money and get this--I wouldn't waste my money on a cheap portable...you'll go thru several cheap ones before you wear this one out, not to mention the quality play.

                      It is amazing, first i thought it would be to expensive but than i thought of what would have happened if i bought my first choice the lifetime for $300 when my older cousins came over!
