I bought these dumbbells for my 15 year old son. I've lifted for years and he's starting to really get into it. He wanted something for home use to supplement his lifting at school. These are perfect for that! And they are also perfect for full time lifting. In my opinion, with these dumbbells, and if they had heavier ones (perhaps, 50 to 100lb range) this would be the only exercise equipment you'd ever need besides a flat/incline bench. Buy them, you won't be dissatisfied.

I recently started P90X with my girlfriend. I bought her the 10 pound version of the Versa Stamina, and I got the 50 lb version for me. The 10 lb version is sold as a pair and to my surprise the 50 lb version is sold individually. I felt deceived. The only clue is in the web page for the 50lb version says "dumbbell" singular, and the 10 lb version says "dumbbells", plural. The reason I looked at the Versa Stamina was that it was so much less expensive than the alternatives. But having to buy the 50 lb one twice made it more or less equal in price; one might as well go with Bowflex instead. The only reason I didn't return it and do just that[...] and I wanted to get going with my workouts. In the end, the Versa Stamina dumbbells aren't that bad.The mechanism works although not as gracefully as the bowflex alternative. Despite bowflex being $80 more for a pair, knowing what I know now, I'd have considered them instead because the bowflex dumbbells allow you to adjust the weights with a single nob while the Versa make you adjust both ends of each dumbbell. This is significant when doing super sets or keeping up with an exercise video, for example. In the end, I give the 50 lb Versa Stamina 3 stars because they are functional and they do work as advertised. Not 4 or 5 stars because they're not spectacular, they're not a particularly inexpensive deal, and for a little more money you can get a more refined and functional version from bowflex. On second thought, they're probably worth 4 stars but I'm only giving them 3 because I'm still miffed about the single dumbbell issue - I feel as though I was bait & switched. At the end of the day, I'm still getting a good workout.

Don't waste your money buying 2 of these, as the Bowflex pair is around 350.00 for 2 so you're actually paying more for a cheaper set. my brother had bought 2 of these a while back and they are durable so if your looking for only one i guess this one is your best option. i was very disappointed when it came to my door and i only received one. i can really only blame myself for that but come on, who wants only 1 dumbbell??

Comments about Stamina Products Stamina Versa-Bell II 50 lb. Adjustable Dumbbell:

          A few issues with these:

Hand grips are a little thick for some people and the rubber molding on the bars isn't exactly comfortable. I recommend gloves.

The ends twist to lock in/unlock the additional weight rings without any limitation/restriction. Some kind of safety lock or only allowing it while they are in their stand would be nice.

The slots in the stand that hold the weight rings are a little loose and the rings shift out of place easily--can be a pain when trying to put the bar back into the stand to add/remove weights and having to jiggle the weights into the right position.

          Otherwise they work fine!

The weight increments are 10 pounds, not 5 like it says. It was very unclear that you only get one and not two. However, that was my mistake for not reading the fine print. I just don't know why anyone would buy just one. I returned it because it is only 5 weights in one. 10,20,30,40,and 50 when it says it was 10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50.

They are a bit difficult to return to their holding trays when you need to adjust the weight, but this is not a big problem. They save space and are less expensive than buying a full set of dumbbells. The grips are good, but a bit large for some women.
