I purchased two of these reels because I needed the line counter for mooching salmon. The reel itself isn't bad but I bought it because it has a line counter. The line counter has broken on both of the reels I own. It's a shame Okuma did not put in a reliable line counter. If they had a reliable line counter, I would recommend this reel given the low price.
Your call but I do not recommend this particular reel. I did not read the 5 str review yet but I am very surprised that someone would rate this reel a 5 star given my experience. The only reason I can think that they did is they have not used it more then a few times and the line counter still works for them. I use mine a couple times a week but I am looking for a good replacement.
