Once set up and stabilized, this is a great basketball hoop. The glass backboard really works great, and is relatively stable. The height adjustment is really easy to use, and makes the hoop much more fun for my 7 and 9 year olds.

However, given the weight of the glass backboard, Spalding really should have provided a stronger, larger base and wheels as an offset. The unit is hard to move around, as the plastic base bends against the metal supporting rods. Also, while the hoop is reasonably secure when the base is filled, I still put sandbags on top as I don't want a glass hoop falling over while my kids are using it (i.e. I don't have full confidence in the base as it comes out of the box).

In retrospect, I wouldn't opt for the heavy glass backboard again had I known it came with this base.

With regards to setup, comments from other posters across different websites are correct -- its difficult to set up and requires at least 2 adults. The process of trying to 'bounce' (yes, that is what it says in the instructions) 3 large metal beams together is a poor design, and my box came with pieces I didn't end up needing.

Directions not specific enough when setting up the top, middle and bottom poles. I had to order new poles because I couldn't pull the poles apart. Alot of other customers are having the same problem. When I tried to order new poles the poles are out of stock because so many customers are having the same problems.

This is a quality backboard system. The backboard is sturdy and has very little shake to it when the balls hits it. Similar to an indoor backboard. Only problem, this is a mutiple piece pole system and I had to call Spalding to have new poles sent, the first set would not fit together even when a sledge hammer was used. After the wait for the new poles we are extremely happy with this purchase.

It`s an awesome system, though it took a full day to set it up. Very stable and can take on everything. It might stress you out as you`re setting it up but trust me, it will be all worth it at the end.

i used to have this old basketball hoop and it sucked then i got this. once i got this it made it so much more fun to play basketball on. you well never want to stop playing. the only problem i had with it was setting it up, thats pretty much it.
