As soon as the 90 day warranty ran out, the belt started folding up on the side. I was able to repair and use for about a month and the same thing happened, but much worse. I would NOT recommend this product.

Comments about ProForm Performance 400 Treadmill:

I am a walker who uses this 3-4 times a week at 3.5-4 mph. I like the incline and the easy to read board. I like the fact that I can see over the board and watch TV while I walk. Many of the new treadmills were too hight for me to see over. I don't like that I have to turnit off completely when not using it or the display lights stay on. I also don't like the fact that the time and distance can't be locked. I had this set up which took over an hour for professionals to do. It is fairly quiet. I agree that the apron is to far forward I am only 5 ft and I tend to step on it every time I use it. I don't use the programs so I cannot comment on that. I do find that at the lower speeds when it starts up that there is hesitation in the belt which is pretty annoying. Overall decent for the price. This replaced a 7 year old treadmill, big improvement without paying a huge price.

Comments about ProForm Performance 400 Treadmill:

I got this on sale for 50% off. It seemed like a really good model without too many bells and whistles but not too basic either. It was a little tricky to assemble but not really difficult. It does take 2 people to do.
It works well. Isn't too loud. Has a nice sized track. There are a fair amount of built in workouts. My only real complaint is there is no option for putting in the weight of the person using it so I am not sure how it is givng a calories burned count since weight is part of that calculation. But otherwise we are very happy with this machine.

Comments about ProForm Performance 400 Treadmill:

I bought this treadmill to help train for runs. I like that it feels very sturdy and it pretty quite. I really like how much it absorbs the shock of running - my knees don't hurt! What I don't like is that I can't time my intervals very well because the display items toggle back and forth on their own and there isn't any way to keep the time displayed while I'm running. Also, a piece arrived broken.

Comments about ProForm Performance 400 Treadmill:

This review is from a serious runner so some items may not pertain to you. We use the treadmill for 3 months each year during the winter, then it collects dust the rest of year. We previously had Pro-form J8 that we bought used. We got 7 winters of use before it stopped working for me (running). We passed it on to a walker that is still using it. We decided to get a Pro Form again since we liked our old one. We purchased the Pro Form 400C. Note: the 400 has deck about 5 inches shorter than the 400C. If you are runner and 5'5" or taller do not purchase the 400. It is too short and you will fall off of it. Spend the extra money for the 400C.
The cushion deck is a nice feature. There is no track on this model. I assumed that I wouldn't miss it. I was wrong, I miss the track icon from my J-8. There is a fan with 2 speeds called lo and hi. It should say lo and very lo. It is weak.
I like working out with a miles per minute indicator. This treadmill only tells you MPH (miles per hour). I created a mpm table and taped it on the machine (6 MPH =10:00 mpm)
The indicators cycle through distance and time every 8 seconds. There is no way to freeze an indicator or toggle between them. If you are running to an exact distance, you may be off as much as 8 seconds.

My biggest complaint is how they boast there are 18 programs. The manual does not give you any information about these programs. I contacted customer serve about this for help. Their response was "Unfortunately we do not have a manual for this information on the workouts. The only way to learn them is by doing them." I think this response is unacceptable and I was very disappointed with their answer.

The 400C treadmill retails for $799 we paid much less. It is not worth $799. Depending on what price you pay, it may be worth it.
We were told it would take 1 hour to assemble. It took 2 hours.

Comments about ProForm Performance 400 Treadmill:

It is a servicable, home treadmill. But, hard to set up. On/Off switch is in a very inconvenient place- down on front. Almost easier to just unplug it. Pulse monitor is grossly inaccurate, to the point of unusable. Pre-set programs are too intense for a recreational, home user. Nothing set as purely cardio program. Easier to do manual. Also, the plastic apron in the front comes back too far onto the belt, so you step on the front occasionally. We're short, so someone with a long stride would find it more difficult.
