This bat has a ton pop a can hit the ball very hard almost to he point that it is dangerous to pitchers, corner infielders, umpires, and base coaches. This -11 bat did not fit me quite right because it was to light. But it is a very good quality bat and would be great for people who like long bats but the xl1 (my favorite) is to heavy for them (-10) but the s1 (-12) is two light for them. If these people cannot afford the mako ($280) that is very expensive they would also be good with an xl2 it doesn't have quite the same pop as the xl1, being half-and-half. But it is much cheaper than the mako (less than $200). The only truly negative comment I have against the mako is that Easton could have done a much better job on the paint job, being a bat between the xl1 and the s1 I expected the paint job to be In that range too, not orange and grey.

Bat just came in today and my son and I were blown away! my son put an hour and a half on this beast of a bat and being a contact hitter already I watched his confidence sky rocket! The mako without a doubt is a beast! looking forward to the rest of the season.

Comments about EASTON Mako Youth Baseball Bat (-11):

Right out of the gate this bat has unbelievable pop. In my first game I hit two one hoppers to the fence. It's not even broken in but it hits farther than my fully broken in s1.

    XL1 much better

    By ByeByeBigFly

Comments about EASTON Mako Youth Baseball Bat (-11):

My 12 year old son has used the XL1 for the past 2 years. Has had great success with each one. We thought the MAKO's build would be perfect for this season. It has been disappointing. Balls are 20 feet shorter than the XL1 consistently. I think we got one that is simply dead. We will be sending back.

Comments about EASTON Mako Youth Baseball Bat (-11):

This is the best two piece composite bat ever made. I was never one to "buy" into the world of expensive little league bats because kids out grow them year in and year out. However this being my sons first year in the majors, I felt a little help could help.... Unbelievable ! Hes now a threat with one in the gap at every at bat! Even ground balls get through the infield faster then most kids can react. Will add .70 pts to his batting average.

Had to see it to believe it

      By WaltATL

Comments about EASTON Mako Youth Baseball Bat (-11):

I researched the new Easton Mako for weeks and read many articles and reviews before ultimately purchasing it. Last week I decided to bite the bullet and purchased a youth 2 1/4 inch 29/18 for my 7 yo sold who plays 8U league play and travel ball. He used it straight out of the wrapper and immediately began to hit with the Mako after hitting several prevoius rounds with his old 2 1/4 Easton Reflex and a new 2 3/4 Easton Jr Big Barrel S1. Even before the bat is fully broken in, he is averaging 25 feet + additional distance on most hits with the Mako. Infield hits fly off the bat and are much harder to field and fly balls are reaching the fence 6 out of every 10 times where he was previously getting 1 out of 10 to the fence. Great feel for this bat with weight concentrated in the extended sweet spot which helps with his swing for a small size player. The extended sweet spot compensates for any error in his swing and allows great plate coverage both inside and out, low pitches and high. His confidence at the plate is sky high now and just about every kid in the league tryouts has inquired about the bat as they like the feel, new sound of the ball off the bat and the ultimate result of the improved hit performance. My son is a strong contact hitter with decent distance. As a coach, I believe that other young hitters at all levels will see great improvements with this bat. The Mako is VERY expensive for a bat for this age group but the results are completely unrivaled by any currently available bat, Easton or other. My only concern is Easton's suggestion not to hit with the bat in cold weather, defined by Easton below 60 degrees F. I would be interested in any feedback others can provide on using this bat in early spring with temps in the high 40s to mid 50s. I highly recommend this bat to any serious young player. Once we have used the bat for a full spring season, I plan to write an updated review of longer term performance.

      Worth it.

      By Foreversanta

Comments about EASTON Mako Youth Baseball Bat (-11):

My son has a senior big barrel S1 and youth S2 currently but we thought XL1 is not for him yet. He is 7 years old and he is 8U travel team. He is a good contact hitter but too young for has enough power. We choose to switch out MAKO bat because MAKO could add up more power than S series. But not heavier than XL series. We got a MAKO Youth for Little League(2 1/4) and MAKO Big Barrel for USSSA Baseball. They are both works to my son unbelievably! Now I believe in what you pay, what you get. Easton did a good job for MAKO. Highly recommended it.
