I bought the Stamina SpaceMate folding stepper to replace my Stamina recumbant bike that held out for 4 years of 5+ times weekly use. I have had it for about a month, and am fairly pleased. I exercise in the evenings for 45+ minutes while I watch TV 5-6 nights per week. The stepper seems to have a lot of beneficial features. The stepper is sturdy for average weight users (I am not certain the weight limit, but would not recommend for heavier individuals) and provides a good workout. I sweat a bit less than on my bike, but think that as I adjust to it and figure out the right resistance for me I will get a better workout. It makes a bit of noise which increases with the length of your workout as the shocks heat up, but it is rhythmical and airy; not as loud as my previous magnetic resistance bike - hardly disturbs my ability to hear the TV. The stepper is light and easy to move; I do not fold it down, but the option to do so for under-bed storage is ideal for small spaces. The stepper has a few features which could use some improvements, but are not deal-breakers. I had to get used to not having easy access to my water, as their is no bottle rack on it, but positioning it next to my breakfast bar allows me to reach for my water at the right height so as not to have to stop. It was also an adjustment to exercise wearing shoes, as the grooves on the stepper are much too painful to exercise without shoes on. I do find that after 45 minutes, my feet and ankles are a bit sore given the angle they are at while I exercise. The foot panels do not remain level, but tilt to the angle of the height you are stepping, so you may experience the same temporary stiffness at the end of a workout from the awkward angle. The only thing about which I am very disappointed is the touchy timer on it - which resets frequently while exercising. I believe it is related to jerky movements that tilt the base, but hard to know for sure. When I reach for my water bottle is when it tends to reset. While I can set the kitchen timer for my workout time, I prefer to be able to track my steps and calories to determine if I am increasing the intensity of my workout regularly. Hard to do when it resets itself repeatedly. I have gotten it to work through an entire workout 3 times, but the hit-and-miss tracking remains disappointing. If this is important to you, you may also find it frustrating. Overall I think it is a solid product for the price, and based on my previous experience with Stamina, I expect it to hold up well for many years of consistent use.

Comments about Stamina Products Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper:

its noisy, i mean it creaks! parts started falling off, and i had to keep tightening the bolts, until one finally broke off!!! Takes too long to warm up the pistons, and the handles are positioned in an uncomfortable place. In order to stored it you have to drag it on one tiny wheel, and its very heavy. I'd rather a regular mini stepper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Stamina Products Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper:

It does wobble slightly when you use it, but not enough to tip over or distract from your workout. Like any stepper you have to give it a few minutes to losen up so you can step at a quicker pace. Its great for a shorter interval workout. i do three sets of ten minutes on mine in between crunches and leg lifts and weights for my arms.

Comments about Stamina Products Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper:

It's fun to use and has an ease of operation but it is flimsy and of weak construction. There are compression tubes that adjust the difficulty of the stair stepper. I don't know where to get the replacement tubes once they're worn out. The maximum dial setting is 12 and I'm at 10.5 already. Once the resistance in the tubes goes that's the end, unless the machine breaks first!

I purchased the stepper 12/07. In the beginning I used it everyday for 30-45 min per day, sometimes 2x's a day. Now I use it about 3-5 days a week. This machine worked great for me. Over the last 2 months, I noticed something is loose and I am not certain if I just need to tighten a bolt to resolve the issue. But overall this stepper was great for the price. I figured if I got 6 months use, I got my monies worth. I am at over a year and still going.

[...] I have had the stepper for about a month now and I have continuously used if every other day working out for 30 mins at a time equivalent to 1300 steps. Yes I agree that it loses tension from time to time but it was designed to work exactly that way, it just makes you increase your heart rate without letting the stepping base touch the ground. It's yet to breakdown on me so far. [...]

We all know the phrase you get what you pay for. But I got my Stanima Spacemate one week ago today. And on my fifth use, it broke down on me. The secure cap that holds the steps togeather snapped on me. And if I try to use it like this steps will likely slip off. I baught a replacement plan and hope that this will be an easy process. Just be careful.

Comments about Stamina Products Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper:

I've found that the shocks lose tension after 5 minutes, so you're forced to perform short workouts. Also, the construction isn't the greatest. It is what it is for a very inexpensive piece of equipment, but I would've rather saved the money that I spent on it and spent a little more for a more sturdy, durable product that has a longer shelf life.
