Great kayak for the money "Journey" 12 foot

By Thomastee

from Orlando, FL, United States

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

I've had mine for almost 2 years now and use it about every other week for lake fishing. I live in Florida so I fish year round. It's relatively easy to move around because of it's weight but you won't be able to stand up in it. I just throw it in the back of my SUV and go. It's pretty stable as long as your seated in it but its difficult to get to the front storage area while you are on the water. The center "console" really takes up a lot of space while providing a rod holder and I wish it wasn't there as that space could be used for storing gear while fishing or when landing fish. The boat tracks very well and is pretty fast and cuts through small waves with no problem. Your seat will get wet when using it so I always sit on a boat cushion which also gives me a little height when casting. I have no regrets purchasing this boat but am looking for something I can stand up in when fishing.

Not bad in Ocean

By Anonymous

from Oceanside, CA, United States

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

I was looking for a yak that can be relaxing and still get me out in the open water. Very stable and roomy. Not eztreemly fast due to the flat bottom but works great offshore or inland. Some complain about the hull being thin but that just makes it lighter an easier to load or carry. No downside for me.

Wonderful

By Stacy

from Michigan

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

Maneuvers good on the water. Lots of storage and an umbrella will actually fit in one of the fishing pole holders to provide some shade. I like the paddle holders on the side. I have a paddle on one side and the umbrella on the other. The only complaint is the holes that are directly under your bottom. I got very wet - however - I'm going to try and put some foam ear plugs in them and see if that helps. I understand the point of them, but don't like them.

Great Kayak

By Toots

from Montana

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

Easy to use and it doesn't tip much for getting in. Nice oars, like you can put them on kayak so they don't float away.

Simply Amazing

By Ryan

from Canandaigua, NY, United States

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

I bought my kayak, after finally finding one in my price range that would support my weight (350) and I took it right to the lake, and to the lagoon.   Turns real well, Super Balanced, lots of stowage, very comfortable.  It's a sit on...that you really sit in.  Best of both worlds.  Perfect Kayak.

great buy!

By uriah37

from Sacramento, CA, United States

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

I have read a lot of reviews on this kayak and though they were not all bad, they left me a bit sceptical as to weather I should buy this kayak. It's almost like the only people willing to write a review are those that happen to have a bad experience. I took my chances anyway. I bought it. I love it! For the price I feel like I've got a whole lot of boat here. And for that I give it a five star. You can always spend more money and get more kayak features with another product but for the money, I do not feel like I went wrong on this buy. I have been out on this kayak a few times now and there are both goods and bads. The goods are that it controlled well, it's very stable (not for standing), has storage space, lots of tie downs, plenty of fishing rod holder's, room for modifying, it's light, and it's pretty easy to get in and out of. The bads are that it doesn't pail out water so your bottom may get pretty wet because all the water that drips from the paddles throughout the day eventually build to a puddle that moves to the seat area. Also, the plastic isn't as thick as I would like for doing certain modifications. Other than that, I can't complain. Good buy for the money.

Pretty happy!

By StatePark

from Portsmouth, Oh

Comments about Sun Dolphin Journey 12' sit-on Fishing Kayak - Olive:

This is my first kayak and so far so good.. a few comments for others that may be looking at this model. I'm 6' and the sliding, adjustable foot rests at max length are still too short for me. Also, before ever putting it in the water one of the rivets that anchor the many bungies popped out - now, I wasn't pulling hard or stressing it, it was a light tug and it came out.. I can push it back in- but now will be even more loose- and leaving it open water will get in.. other than that it's a nice, stable riding kayak for 6', 220lbs.
