The McDavid Ankle X brace is so comfortable you won't know you have it on even after a full day of practice. The molded support features a pivot hinge for greater maneuverability and comfort, and the stretch sleeve provides compression support.

Like most people who go to the hospital for a sprain, I was given the stupid looking white aircast with the green air-filled cushions. This was very comfortable on crutches, but too restrictive to use when walking. The Ankle X is a good way to graduate to activity again. It allows me to run, ACTUALLY RUN, on my toes with hardly any pain or fear of landing wrong. Tight velcro and shoe lacing are key to stability, but the tighter you go, the more annoying the hard plastic shell becomes. So, it's best to just strap up as you would ski boots, etc. That is, snug and secure but not too tight. Also, the design is actually cool and athletic looking enough to feel comfortable sporting in with shorts. It looks more like an Underarmour style accessory than a medical device.
As a previous reviewer wrote, this brace was poorly designed because of the bottom of the brace. I returned mine due to the discomfort it caused my foot when jogging or just being on it for long periods of time. A brace that has a soft bottom with the sturdy side plates works much better in my opinion for both sport and daily use; you receive the great protection and comfort, and save about $15.

Comments about McDavid Ankle X Brace:
OK so when i first ordered this I was a bit skeptical if it would do what it said it would because it's not a conventional brace. It comes in two pieces, a neoprene brace and the plastic shell. It was hard to put into my Kobe V's but fit into my Lebrons nicely and I don't even notice it's there. I had a high ankle sprain at the beginning of the football season that has been lingering and hasn't had time to heal and this makes my ankle almost feel like it used to.
This brace gets 3 stars due to the fact that the foot bed is bothersome. Good sturdy brace fits nice and smug but the bottom part hurts your heel after a couple hours, even with socks.
