This Nelco 103 mm 12 lbs Stainless Steel Shot Put is designed for the advanced thrower. It is machine turned to different diameters and lathe turned and balanced for an overall best performance, additionally it's polyurethane paint coated for smooth and durable finish.
Features

    Shot Selection Criteria:
  • Determination of the correct diameter is based on the fingers being in proper throwing position placed behind the shot. To obtain proper fitting of the shot to the ability of your athlete.
  • Finger length is critical. The shot must rest on the Pad (callus) of the palm and the fingers must be up the side of the shot. Throwers with "shorter" fingers may find that the smaller diameter shot feels better at delivery & those with longer fingers may like the feel of the larger diameter.
  • The final decision is a personal choice by the thrower and you may need 2-3 diameters to fit the whole team. From a Bio-mechanical point of view, the larger shots give a greater contact area & push zone.

    Hard to find small diameter shot for high school use. My son is a big guy with small hands, and found the shots available for the team too large to grip well. This shot fits him better, and should hold up well being made of stainless steel. Price was the best I could find anywhere.
