The second time I used this canopy the frame folded. The parts can only be bought online from 1 place.I bought the parts, wrong parts came in and the parts for the 12x12 aren't even available. Now I'm out an additional 25. In addition the plastic pieces on the side accordion are all cracking
Let me begin by saying that I do not have the 12x12. I have the 10x10. However it is also a 'Weekender' and thus the same construction.
Initially, I was satisfied. The canopy was light enough for my wife to lift, and it just fit in the back of my Subaru Outback without having to fold the seat down. Setting it up was straightforward. I did a trial run on my front lawn prior to setting up at an event, so as to save myself any embarrassment. Day 1 of ownership received 5 stars.
On the first weekend out, the zipper to the bottom of the bag broke. It broke in such a way that the teeth were bent to the point of not being usable. The zipper is cheap. The kind of cheap zipper you would expect to find on some pair of homemade shorts that your mom made you when you were 4. The troubling part is that this is the zipper that holds the bottom base plate flush against the canopy and allows you to roll the canopy. So at this point, I've gone from 5 stars to 3 stars.
On the second weekend, the windward side of the frame folded like a cheap lawn chair. Mind you, we are not talking about hurricane force winds. We are talking about a normal afternoon breeze. All of the other canopies around us were not even affected. Now, the frame is bent to the point that it is basically unusable. We've gone from 3 stars to 1 star.
SA will not replace or credit us since we are slightly beyond 30 days which leaves dealing directly with the manufacturer. They will only deal with manufacturing defects not fit-for-use issues.
Bottom line, if you have the burning need to waste money on something that doesn't work well, then this is your opportunity. I would advise saving that SA receipt and returning this thing within 30 days at the slightest hint of an issue. Otherwise, you may as well gouge your eyes out dealing with the manufacturer and then try to figure out how to get this thing to the dump.
