Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

Right out of the box I hike several miles of difficult hikes in southern Utah for a week. No foot or ankle pain and no blisters. Boots held up well even in deep water. Good traction and didn't get rocks caught in the soles.

Overall Great Purchase

Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

Bought these on a Wed. and went on a 6 mile hike the next day. These boots are very comfortable right out of the box. Light-weight, sturdy and grippy. It had rained for several days before, which left a lot of running and standing water, as well as plenty of mud. The boots are great walking on all conditions that I encountered such as wet rocks, dirt, mud, stone, wood, gravel and snow. These boots performed well going up and downhill with all conditions. I walked through many small streams and mud intentionally and the moisture fully stayed out. I walked through a deeper stream and soaked one boot close to the ankle. If you submerge these boots they won't keep water out completely, due to the mesh. But there is a water proof booty that keeps most of the water from getting your feet wet, maybe a bit damp, but they breathe well. You can feel the water around the booty in the shoe for a little bit, which makes it seem like your foot is more wet. Great investment to really tackle the many many trails of Colorado.

The top was hard to keep tied! But boot over all gave the ability to grab on to mud and rock. Comfortable for anything!

Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

A light rain hit the top of the shoe and it soaked through like there was no WP protection or layer at all. My sock was wet.

It took 30 hours to dry out the inside so that I could return them.

Something went wrong in production--they must have forgot the WP material layer?

Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

I'm a hiker and was very disappointed when crossing a small stream. Noticed the top of my feet were wet had to change socks immediately. Appears to leak above the rubber protective soles. When I got home I was unable to find the leaks under a faucet. Leaks appear related to vigorous movement while hiking. Also noticed my feet were hitting the toe of the shoe down hill. This will cause blisters. The size appears to be 1/2 shorter than stated.

Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

Most comfortable Hiking shoes I ever had.
      No Break-in required.
Good for all purposes other than Hiking.
I use them to go out and cycling too.

Very Waterproof--I tested one of them on first wear. I took a water spray bottle that I use for plants and drenched the shoe with water for 5 minutes until there was a puddle all around the left shoe. Then I rubbed the water into the top of the shoe with my fingers. Then I took a cycling water bottle and sprayed an entire bottle of water on the shoe. Then I let it sit for 5 minutes to soak in. The top of the shoe and laces and suede part were wet and dripping. I then took them off to check the inside and it was completely dry. Pushing my fingers into the upper part I could feel no water. This is a pass to me.

Comments about Columbia Men's North Plains Mid WP Trail Shoes:

Boots are very comfortable but not waterproof at all. Not even resistant. Morning dew on lawns soaks through.
I do landscaping for a living. Lawns will usually be moist in the early morning. My socks are wet with in 20 minutes.
WP I thought stood for waterproof. I guess it stands for Wet Pheet. Will most likely keep then for casual wear.
