Comments about Akadema AGC-98 Praying Mantis Prodigy Series 32.0 Inch Youth Catcher's Mitt:

This is one of the highest rated youth catcher mitts out there. I wisely used some saved up Sports Authority gift cards to buy this for my 11 year old catcher and he loves it. This is not a cheap glove that will arrive broken in, it will take some quality time to break it in, but it is worth it!

Comments about Akadema AGC-98 Praying Mantis Prodigy Series 32.0 Inch Youth Catcher's Mitt:

Used right out the box for 1 inning. Still needs breaking in,but was still usable. Seems a little small but measures up against my Mizuno. Extremely comfortable and after 2 weeks is better than any mitt I have owned. I am definitely sold on Akedema.

Comments about Akadema AGC-98 Praying Mantis Prodigy Series 32.0 Inch Youth Catcher's Mitt:

My son has broken his thumb three times and sprained it once (catching). He needed a glove that offers the highest level of protection for the thumb.

He is also highly picky about his equipment. He has always caught his a Mizuno Prospect GXC 100 mitt with Power Close. His "old" Mizuno mitt was still in great shape when we bought this new mitt, but he loved this one right away and started breaking it in at practice and using it.

It says not to, but we used the hot glove treatment and a little oil on it to break it in, and within one practice and my husband working it back and forth for about an hour and half, it was ready for games. He didn't drop anything, even during the breaking-in practice.

It is shaped for easy ball transfer. He hasn't used it enough to tell if the protection is real, but it does have more padding in that area than any other mitt. The only odd thing about it, which doesn't affect performance, is that there is a small notch on the edge about 2 o'clock that makes the glove look smaller than it is. But we held it up to his Mizuno, and it's exactly the same.
