Bauerfeind's AchilloTrain is a comfortable knitted support with a silicone insert alongside the Achilles tendon and under the heel. An additional heel cushion is provided for the unaffected foot. It is designed for Achilles tendon injuries.
Features

  • Knitted Achilles tendon support incorporating an anatomically contoured silicone insert that runs alongside the Achilles tendon
  • Silicone insert leaves tendon pressure-free and provides intermittent compression for the reduction of swelling and edema
  • Built-in contour of anatomical knit places ankle in slight plantar flexion
  • Viscoelastic heel-wedge incorporated to additionally raise the heel for relief of Achilles tendonitis
  • Additional heel-wedge provided for unaffected foot thus preventing leg length discrepancies
  • Provides peak shock load reduction to joints and vertebral column with both heel cushions in place
  • Promotes proprioception, thus heightening sensory awareness in the ankle for increased joint stabilization
  • Lightweight, breathable knit will not retain heat and is completely machine washable

        Highly recomend. I have Achilles tendonitis. At the time I discovered this item, heal cups/wedges were not enough to allow the tendon to heal. This brace has compression in the right places to allow the tendon to rest and heal. I now have very little pain/inflammation/swelling. I use for work where I constently walk on concrete floors and when I excercise. Before purchasing this item, I could barely walk and now using the brace I have little irritation at all. I can now function in my everyday activities.

            Tore my achilles & other tendons/ligaments 6 yrs. ago. Haven't been able to walk pain-free since. Frequent swelling. Saw this brace recommended at [@]. It's been amazing! The key is the heel lift. Now I can even walk stairs without hurting. (It comes with a 2nd heel lift for your other foot to prevent leg elongation. Very nice.) The other help is the pads along the achilles - the compression keeps the swelling down and creates a massage effect that helps blood flow. It's soothing. Be careful of size though. If you're on the upper end of the size range, you might want the next bigger size. That's because of the only flaw: the design has a thick elastic band with two seams that crosses another thick seam that runs along the front of the brace. This creates a pressure point along the top of your foot where your ankle meets your leg. I had to order the next size up because of the discomfort - and I was at about 2/3" from the upper maximum. Measure carefully! Otherwise, this brace has been like a miracle. Highly recommend!
