Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Solitude Tent:

I picked up this tent for river trips. Going light and small on a budget was very difficult. This unit satisfied 60% of my needs. Packing it in my kayak was easy after seperating the components. Setting it up was even easier. I liked that it could stand without staking. I also liked the head room, even though it wasn't on my must-have list. It took a beating on my first trip, and held up well.

The Polyethylene floor makes this tent a little bulky to pack up. A nylon or tafetta floor would have reduced its pack size by 1/3. The rain-fly just makes it past the screen panels. Lack of roof vents in the rain-fly creates a teeny bit of condensation. Screened mesh will let in the occasional nosee-ums.

Overall, it's a fun entry level tent. Fine for young kids, car campers, and short day trippers. Really great for overnights at the beach with the rain-fly off.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Solitude Tent:

Nice little tent set up first time out of bag took 3 minutes with fly. Big enough for one adult with light gear (in vestibule). Would have preferred a taffeta floor and aluminum poles as the fiberglass poles are thin/flimsy. takes very little space and time to set up. Also, if you lose or damage the 3 way pole hub, you are out of luck, so be careful with it.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Solitude Tent:

Very nice 1 man tent I bought it to replace a worn out tent for when i go camping on my motorcycle. Easy to setup and just enough room to sleep comfortable and stay dry. Nice construction for a tent under $100. The rain fly is a bit short in the front but with a little adjustments with the straps i got it to even out and cover the screen mesh. Love the bath tub bottom. Enough room to put personal items in front of where my head goes when sleeping. Rated for three seasons. I like the triangular shape so the water runs down the rain fly. Packs compact in its own carry bag. Getting ready to go on my camping trip on my motorcycle. Overall very happy with my purchase. I bought a extended warranty for $6 good for a year if anything goes wrong with I can return it and get another one.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Solitude Tent:

I use this for car camping with friends and backpacking. My last tent did not have a waterproof floor and run off water would seep in. So this time it was a must. Another must was to have it stand alone to reposition it where I want it before putting in the stakes. And price was a big issue for me. This was definitely the best deal for the price out there. I do miss having a top vent like my old tent. If there was another zipper on the fly, I could open the fly door a little fron the top. The fly does not reach below the wall of the ground in the front, leaving about 2 or 3 inches of just netting between me and the cold night air - which will be right at my face. This is my biggest concern.
