Comments about The North Face Women's Ultra Guide Trail Running Shoes:

This is my second pair. I bought the first pair a month ago in the store. I LOVE how they cushion my feet on the city sidewalks! After wearing them for 2 weeks, I decided to buy the second pair (online) so I'd have a pair ready when the first one wears out. They also seem slightly wider than most athletic shoes and I love that, too.

Comments about The North Face Women's Ultra Guide Trail Running Shoes:

I bought this shoe because I was looking for something somewhat supportive (non-minimalist) with some cushion, however, something with flexibility and low-to-mid weight (8oz or less) were also a priority. Personally, I also find the happy medium for me in terms of drop is about 6-8mm; this shoe is 8mm. I have a narrow foot and prefer a snug heel fit, and this shoe works for me. Those that prefer a wide toebox may not like this shoe.

Flexibility- the shoe is quite flexible, likely due to the SnakePlate used- this is a nice balance of protection and flexibility.

Tread- is probably too aggressive for my needs running mostly fireroad and soft single track with little mud and loose debris. I haven't been able to test this shoe on severe conditions like soupy mud, snow and/or loose scree. I assume it would do fairly well, based on the look of it.

Upper- the upper is a fine mesh that unfortunately is not extremely breathable, nor does it drain well. It keeps dust and rocks out like a charm, but I found that during my test runs with river crossings my feet were clammy, soggy messes afterward due to poor draining. I love the tongue guard. The lacing holds well.

Fit- the fit is somewhat long and narrow, compared to the spectrum of shoes I wear. I wore my normal size that I wear in all other brands- Brooks, NB, Nike, Saucony, womens size 8, but I found the shoe to be slightly bigger- not big enough to go down half a size though. Mostly that "bigger" was in the length.

Feel- the shoe feels cushioned and protective, but not heavy, clunky or stuffy.

Overall, I am impressed. My only concern is getting feet wet and developing blisters due to poor drainability. Other than that, fantastic!
