Comments about MAMMOTH 54" Steel Frame In-Ground Basketball System:

We were looking for a basketball system for our driveway and wanted something sturdy that wouldn't rattle or make a lot of noise when it hit the backboard. Unlike some of the other systems on display, the height adjustment is very smooth and easy to operate. I have had no problems with the height moving on its own.

We were not planning on moving the system around so an in-ground system made sense. Since it was going to be on the side of the driveway, we also avoided the big base which allowed us to install it closer to the side, allowing more room (about 3 feet) for playing.

There are many portable systems that cost a lot less. Like anything else, you will get what you pay for. The build of this system is very solid and we expect to get a lot more use out of this system over a portable one.

This in-ground system is very sturdy since it is bolted to a 3 foot deep concrete footing. The tempered glass backboard does not shake (or make a lot of noise) when the ball hits it. Also, the height adjustment is extremely easy to operate.

We had it installed by Sports Authority and they took care of pouring the concrete and installing everything. This adds to the cost of the system. If you are comfortable digging a hole and pouring a footing and placing rebars, you could save money by doing it yourself.

The only downside to this product is that it costs more than portable systems so you need to decide if cost or function is more important.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to sports equipment. Understanding that there are better systems out there that also cost more, we are very happy with the system because it is sturdy, quiet and durable at a cost slightly above a really good portable system.
