Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

We opted to give the Lifetime 'Yaks a try . Good deal w/ coupon from Sports Authority , and great customer service !

Took our Kayaks out to Lake Natoma in early Evening for a quick spin . First thing I notice is .... it doesn't want to shift , move , or tip when I go to sit in it . Very nice !! Hop in , start paddling , it feels kind of sluggish as we head to the far side of the Lake . We reach the opposite shoreline and start to run parallel with it . Only then do I notice we are moving really fast . The stability of the tamarack Angler gives the illusion of going slow , it will move when you really want it to .

My Wife has Kayaked quite a bit in the past , I have not . I tried to stop the 'Yak quickly , and I did so . I tried to maneuver quickly .... turning both to the left and the right , no problems ! As we reached a fairly shallow Bay , I thought I'd give standing-up in it a try (something a sit-on-top is NOT designed for) ...

I did it . The 'Yak was solid as a rock , and hardly shifted .

Our only mildly negative comments about this Kayak are both concerning the seat - I don't care for the way is will slam shut when I am boarding it (I'll try to retrofit a Bungee cord on the back of the seat to make it 'spring' up) . Wife thought the actual seat bottom wasn't padded enough (again , we can buy pads , so it is a non-issue) . We give the Tamarack Angler 9 1/2 points out of 10 points . It is a SWEETHEART of a Kayak , and inexpensive ! While we have yet to fish out of them , I do not foresee any problems ... since the lil' 'Yak has no bad habits .

A little more to add - Tracking . 10-footers are not supposed to track very well , they are supposed to weave around like a drunk after last call . The Tamarack Angler tracks really well . There's a small amount of Bow-weave , perhaps 4-6 inches when I really paddle hard . It seems to steer almost by intuition - whenever I wanted to change my course , it seemed to react without me putting any thought into it ! Also , it's kind of homely-looking , not that it matters .... one last thing - although I was in-and-out several times , getting a fair amount of water into the cockpit .... when we landed , there was not a single drop on water inside the Hull . I like that , much more than I like the thought of drowning slowly !! Gentle , sweet little 'Yak !

Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

Just bought the Tamarack Angler today and went out for a couple hours, up and down a lazy slough near my home. It was very easy to get in and out of, easy to steer, easy to paddle - all around a good entry kayak.

It feels like it is probably on the heavy side. I was able to carry it from about a block away, but much more than that and I might be looking at kayak carts.

I got this during a 20% off sale, so it was only $256 ($279 after tax), and a Lifetime oar for $20. I think it will be worth every penny plus a few more.

Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

If you are shopping online. Please know the picture does not do this kayak justice.
I recommend you go see it in person, if you are unsure like I did...
It seems to me the one shown on this site is an older model.
The one I got feels lighter than 50lbs. It now has a padded seat. And stronger, more well secured carry handles.(I noticed a lot of comments on here about bad handles.) Well, they fixed it! Definitely a great value for the money, I couldn't be happier really.
The only complaint I have is that the storage hatches are not individual compartments. Both hatches open up into the hull of the boat, and well, its not very practical.

Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

Purchased this kayak for the purpose of getting out in the middle of the Lake to swim on nice days. Was very surprised to see three fishing rod holders. The kayak is very stable and easy to paddle. Very comfortable for long trips out in the water. I got this kayak on sale and it was a realy good deal for what you get. I got the display unit and had to fix one of the deck loops. The handles seem to be well secured with aluminum rivets and washers. The plastic hull seems durable and strong. The twin paddle keepers are useless and will need to be redesigned. The only other problem is the lack of dry bags in the storage ports. All in all I realy like this kayak and can't wait for a really nice day to actually try getting out in the water to swim.

Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

Purchase good stainless bolts, nuts and washers for the carry handles! Do it before you even pick it up the first time. This would have saved me a trip to the hardware store... Otherwise this is a nice kayak. We bought two of them and have used them in salt water and on an 11-mile river trip. Both were very successful and lots of fun. Both of ours constantly get water inside whether they are stored on their sides or sitting on their bottoms. Not a lot, but more than I would have thought. They NEVER leaked while in the water, just while stored outside in the rain.

Had it out 7 or 8 times great for fishing. I have a 12 footer also but this one is more stable for fishing . I can move around grabbing gear and dont have to worry about tipping. Not fast but that is not what it is built for. Great value.Seems to be durable.

I use the kayak in both Fresh water and Salt Water. Moves through the water nicley. Side carring handles have come off,( like most who are writing these reviews. I will try and fix myself.
(Do not go cheap on a paddle) A good one makes a big performance difference. Also have a issues finding the correct scupper plugs

Tracks well. Carry handles are riveted to the boat and are weak. Once replaced with bolts, you are good to go. Good overall for the money.

Comments about Lifetime Tamarack Angler Kayak:

Love the Kayak for the price. As the other reviews mentioned though, I had the same problem with the handle straps coming off. I drilled out the plastic rivets and put in 1/4" bolts, washers, nuts, and lock washer. I could just reach inside to hold nut with a socket wrench. I use around the coastal islands in southwest FL. in pretty calm water. Very happy with it. Debated between a 4 or 5 cause of the handles, but easy fix so I gave it a 5.

had the coupon and got a good deal, used it once stayed out for a while, if I was using the kayak I would have to get out to rest the back. Nice to be able to change the angle of the back rest. Fishing rod holders good, tackle box tween the legs or on the back platform.I think the wife would like the easy access. The only trouble with that is I be back in the normal kayak.
