          Comments about Lifetime Payette Kayak:

First kayak! Wanted something low cost to decide if kayaking was for me. Definitely a good value. Paddles well. I even took it out on a windy day in the ocean and tried some surfing. Fun! But there is no splash lip on the cockpit so not the best choice for rough water without having a pump handy (I actually made a small splash guard for the bow which helped). Because of the short water line, it does not glide well per stroke but that it expected. The back storage area is not very deep. They should have made it much deeper then it would make a great beer cooler! I'm now hooked on kayaking.

The seating is perfect for you and and a small child. I had my neice and she is 7 in it with me, she even was doing it all alone. it was easy and you can go pretty fast. not wabble to get in at all. I was knee deep getting in- its lightweight- i bought two and we love them now my sister wants to buy the same one.

              Comments about Lifetime Payette Kayak:

I use this kayak in rivers and near the coastline under flat weather conditions. It is definitely a lazy boat meant for downstream trips, flat waters and lakes. It dosen't maneuver will in currents and medium winds. Requires some speed to track well. Easy to get in/get out. Extremely stable. Overall, nice for a float, but a far ways from a touring kayak.

For the price range, design and construction are fair. There are quite a few sharp edges, but thats easily fixed. Max user weight is rated 250, but I think 200 would be pushing the materials and hull, which are only lightly reinforced. Easy to shoulder and thrown over a compact vehicle.

Good purchase when it's on sale.

                Comments about Lifetime Payette Kayak:

First of all let me start out by saying I HAD an overwhelming fear of water. So I did a lot of research on what would make a stable kayak, because kayaking always looked like fun to me. My husband and I bought two of these kayaks. We are both beginners (although he's rented a sea kayak a couple of times before but I have never been in one). This kayak is VERY stable. Our last trip out it was VERY windy on the lake (wind surfers were out) and I was paddling up against the waves, with them splashing in my face. Not once did I feel this little kayak was too unstable, even in those ocean like conditions. I am so impressed with how stable this kayak feels that I have quickly overcome my fear of water. It tracked pretty straight, but I'm a beginner paddler so my paddling technique needs to improve. But my husband got his up and moving pretty quickly, so they glide through the water with ease. I love the little storage hatch on the back, and the shock cords on the front. The seat back was comfortable and sufficient. The foot rests are NOT adjustable, but I had no issues with where my feet were resting (I'm 5'7"). My husband had no issues either (he's 6'). The seat itself was comfortable, I have no complaints with it. If you want adjustable foot rests, I'd suggest replacing these with some. There are no thigh pads for around the cockpit edge though. I had no issue with it's sharp edges, but they are sharp (especialy when trying to pick it up by the edges). We'll likely fix that by buying some foam pipe insulation from a home improvement store and put it around the edge of the cockpit. Overall I am very pleased with our purchase and I actually can't wait to get back out on the water! This is quite an accomplishment for me, but that little yak made me so comfortable on the water with how stable it felt, that I'm eager to go back out!

                  Comments about Lifetime Payette Kayak:

A great kayak for the price. I purchased it on sale and then used a 20 percent off coupon ([$] total)! This is my second kayak. I use this one for day trips to lakes as it is easy and portable and surprising comfortable. Light weight but I would suggest adding some padding on the inside carry handle, I added some foam pipe insulation. My guest kayaking friends often prefer this one over my larger, nicer (and much more expensive) kayak.Great customer service from the manufacture as I needed to call them as mine was missing a front toggle.

                    Comments about Lifetime Payette Kayak:

We bought 2 of these and 1 of the fishing ones when they were on sale, and with additional 20% off coupon. Put them under $200. So for that price it is hard to beat. We took them out on a lake for the first time. Handled well, very stable. tracking wasn't too bad once you got your paddling down. A previous person wrote about the sharp edges on the cockpit opening. This is true of ours as well. I am 6'4" and so my legs rest against the edges. I went to [@] and picked up a foam pipe insulation tube. The kind you put around pipes to keep them from freezing. I think it was for 3/4' pipes. Then i got 5 small nuts, bolts and washers and attached the foam around the top half of the cockpit. Problem solved, and only cost a little more than 3 bucks.

Got this boat on sale. great value.
The seat strap broke first time out.
The inside lip of the cockpit has very sharp edges.
I hope this is just on this boat. I hope exchange it
for a the same one. Very roomy cockpit and comfortable seat. Does not track as well as I thought it would but, not that much of an issue.
