I am not a minimus fan usually, as I need shoes with stability & cushioning due to my somewhat flat arches. But I entered into a Hell Run Mudder, which involves running in mud pits & scaling walls. Everyone told me if I wanted to finish in a serious time that I would need to put down my traditional running shoes & my minimus. These shoes are not zero drop, but 4mm, which is much less than what I'm used to.

With that said, I am sold that these shoes are the best for mudders, & if you like minimus shoes then you will love these for trail runs. These shoes weigh half of what traditional shoes weigh, and after hosing them off after my mudder they looked brand new! They even weigh nothing after going into mud pits.

There is one negative to them: The middle part of the bottoms wear out within 10 miles. However, the rest of the bottom of the shoe has lasted, so this isn't really that big of a deal, though New Balance honestly wasted their time putting such a worthless middle section in. Oh well

Remember, theses are minimist shoes. I usually do not write reviews, but the other reviewer doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to minimist shoes. For that person, ALL minimist shoes are going to suck because that person needs cushioning, stability, etc. People in minimist shoes run properly, so they do not need all that weighed down features.

I love these shoes so much that I run all my trail running with them, & use my traditional shoes for street running only. I do put a arch insert in them since I have flat arches, & I tape my achilles tendon up since my feet tend to like traiditional shoes, & I pay attention to mid foot striking so that these shoes do not injure me, but with that said I LOVE these shoes.

P.S. I finished 2nd in my mudder in these!!!

I am a street to trail runner, I run 5 miles plus every other day. I could not finish my workout the second time I tried to run in them, even after I wore them for a week around the house to break them in. I have flat feet, not the right shoe for me.
