Best thing I have ever bought!

By Quinn

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I love my Goal Zero Yeti 150 solar generator, however I made the mistake of buying the generator without the Nomad 20, but bought it shortly after its arrival.

Very helpful

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I bought the yeti 150 a couple months ago, and I love it! It's mainly used to charge smart phones and gopro cameras when we go camping and it performs very well. We get plenty of charges out of one charge of the yeti. One word of advice is to put your smart phones down! Phones take more battery than our gopro cameras, so this can take away if you use your phone too much.

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I have had my Yeti 150 for over a year now and use it everyday. I use it to power my Ham radio everyday and when on camping trips to the Channel Islands I used it to power my CPAP machine for three nights with recharging each day with two 15 watt Boulder solar panels. it worked great!

Works great; very portable and durable

By ADB55

from St. Charles, IL, United States

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I own a Yeti 1250 and 3 Boulder 30 panels. During an 11,000 mile cross country camping trip we were able to dry camp for 6-7 days at time, keep our trailer batteries charged, and I was able to power my wife's AC medical equipment twice a day w/o ever hooking up to the grid. We also used it to power an Engel 42 qt AC/DC electric cooler/freezer. We no longer did we have to buy 20 lb bags of ice every 3 days, and our wine, beer and water stayed nice and cold. When at home the panels are set up outside the garage, and with an extension cable the Yeti and Engel sit inside keeping our beer at 40degrees all summer long without any grid power. From hot sun we get cold beer to share with our friends.

Underpowered

By bradK

from Nebraska

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

Just got one of these yesterday for an upcoming trip to Canada and am extremely disappointed. I bought it for the sole purpose of recharging my GoPro batteries during this 10 day trip. I drained all my GoPro batteries and it is on its last 20% after only charging 7 batteries and I will probably get 9 or 10 charges out of it, they claim 25!!! I am thoroughly disappointed that I spent $200 for this when I could have got a $40 portable usb charger with 20,000 mAH and got more charges than this thing while saving a ton of weight and bulk. And it also took 2.5 hours to charge a battery, slower than the outlet but that is expected.

Very poor wattage

By LukeSW

from Undisclosed

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I just bought a Yeti 400 and Boulder 30 watt. Set the solar panel in direct sunlight mid day sun, here in Moab, UT with not a cloud in the sky. The very best I could do was 10 watts. Not even close to 30 watts. Why is that????? Might have to return it tomorrow if I can't get a quick and responsible reply

Great product and addition to my first Buy

By Lafe1962

from San Diego, CA, United States

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I hose to purchase this yeti package because of reviews from other. Since received I have cycled this a dozen times by running home lights, computers and a small server. Life expectancy was better that expected and the product is very functional as well has the cool factor. I have a small cabin in the mountains and lost power for the night and this little package allowed me to use my phone and ipad and recharge multiple times. The one thing you will need is some sort of case or container that can attach the charging cords to prevent potential loss. I will be adding to my Goal Zero tool kit and will continue to do so.

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I own 3 Yeti 400s, one stays plugged into the wall and powers a security system hard drive and 4 cameras. If power goes out, the Yeti takes over powering the system. The other two I rotate out of a Faraday cage, one is always protected in the cage while the other is charging our phones, laptops, razor or any small to medium rechargeable device, it does this well. Recharging the Yeti takes one full sun to partly cloudy day using 4 Goal Zero Boulder 30 solar panels, chained together. As a Staten Islander, this system made easy work of keeping a few lights working as well as powering a small TV and heating blanket during Hurricane Sandy. It works cleanly and quietly but the piece of mind it provides is priceless. Even if you have a gas generator, this system is an excellent way to back it up, and its portable. I love that the display shows the input and output wattage, this is very helpful. The Goal Zero staff was friendly and knowledgeable, when my Escape 150 needed a new battery, they helped me troubleshoot it quickly over the phone and I had a replacement in a few days.

Won't charge Switch 8 Recharger

Cons

Comments about Goal Zero Boulder 30m:

I bought the Goal Zero kit with solar panel and recharger for the trip to the jungle in Guyana. The plan was to leave the solar panel and recharger in camp then be able to charge up cameras, etc at night.

I tested it out in Tucson, AZ, in direct sunlight and in more than 8 hrs it would not charge the Switch 8 Recharger more than 50%. I tried numerous times, changed angles, no improvement. The Switch 8 Recharger would take a full charge from my laptop.

In the end, I left the solar panel at home, wasn't worth the weight.
