Having read EVERY review prior to mine, here is my take for what it's worth. After watching numerous kayak fishing videos on the internet, I decided to buy myself a kayak. I've had this yak now for 3 years & wished I had thought of it when I was a kid. I bought this specific kayak because of the "pros" I have listed (I'm sure I've neglected to mention a few other reasons). Yeah, it's not perfect, hence the 4 stars, but I didn't spend $1,000 either. Note my "cons." I didn't buy it for exercising; I didn't buy it to go fast; I didn't buy it for it's looks; I didn't buy it to compare myself with other kayakers; I bought it mostly because I can take it out of my van without blowing out my back & drag/carry/cart it into areas where people wish they could fish at a fraction of the cost of other kayaks. I am 5'5", 170lbs. & have no problems sitting comfortably in it or lifting it (though it is just under 40lbs.). Once in the water, I spend most of my time anchored with my legs hanging over each side (it takes the stress off my lower back). I just put on my headphones, turn on my music and relax while I fish. Can it get any more glorious than that? However, I strongly, strongly recommend you DO NOT buy this kayak if you are over 250lbs. or taller than 6 ft. It just may be too uncomfortable or unstable. Although I listed cons, they REALLY DON'T pose much of an issue for me in particular. Though, having a bigger deck would allow me to get the skies, pikes, & kings completely outta the water. Nevertheless, I chose to sacrifice size for portability & inexpense. *Note Pictures Below* After doing much research on how to rig a kayak for fishing, I added two anchor trolleys (one on each side), a scotty rod holder (on the top of the deck), a deck mount paddle holder (on the right side), additional pad eyes (to secure items onto the yak), a crate to hold my fishing gear, a small shovel (to help reposition the kayak after I shelf my paddle) & 3 additional PVC rod holders attached to the crate. I've convinced others to buy this same exact kayak & have helped them rig it up for fishing too. It's very easy & you can creatively customize it to your likings (have fun doing it). I've even put on several fishing/outdoor decals on my yak. This has been, without a doubt, the best investment I've ever made for any hobby I've had. It has allowed me to catch some amazing fish in areas so isolated & tranquil. It gives fishing a whole new meaning. If, for any unforseen reason, I had to buy a replacement kayak, I would ABSOLUTELY buy this same exact one!!! Hopefully this review helps you decide & hopefully you find the same benefit in this yak as I have. "A bad day of fishing is always better than a great day at work." Go buy yourself or someone this kayak.

It was difficult maneuvering away from shore, slow moving perhaps for its size, if you are an adult 5 ft of height best be on a 11 ft or longer kayak.
The back rest support was easy to adjust, water inside the craft was minimal, best to have a large sponge handy, storeage it is ok.
Takes wave action no more than half foot if more hang on and go for the ride, use Coast Guard approved life vest at all times on.
For a child with adult supervision at all times, not recomended for teenagers.

maybe good for a kid or a small adult. I am 6'0 and 197 and this thing felt very unsafe in florida. Kept thinking I was going to be gator bait on this thing. I have several kayaks the larger grey 10 foot lifetime fishing kayak sit on top is nice but not this one. I would only suggest this for a smaller person or kid and even then questionable feels like you are paddling a plastic table.

I bought two of them to enjoy with my family of four. We aren't out for speed, just to enjoy the scenery. I took our 7 yr old with me and my husband took our 4 yr with him, this was to help balance weight! The kids later switched from back to front and then into the other kayak while on the water. Very stable! We talked about all the things we could do with them, such as fishing, picture taking, and picnicing. We thought a floating cooler of snacks would be a great edition to our trip! The little pocket behind the seat was perfect for my camera and easy to access. Our 7 yr old took one out on his own as well. I know they will have a blast jumping off them at the lake as well. Highly recommend for those with little kids or out just to enjoy the day!

I've had a few kayaks, was looking for a smaller, cheaper kayak for the wife and kids. This is NOT the kayak for that. All the pop rivets leak, it sank after 15min of use. Luckily the wife hopped on the back of my kayak and I got her to shore. There is a reason its so cheap, its not worth the risk. Wish I could return it, but lesson learned.

Comments about Lifetime Lotus Kayak in Blue:

We purchased 2 of these kayaks for use at our cottage on a lake. We wanted to be able to cruise around on the lake and enjoy the calm waters, get a bit of exercise and spend quality time together. These kayaks are perfect for what we want. The front cord and the handle on the side makes them easy to pull in and out of the garage and to the lake. They are very stable, fairly comfortable (the back rest is adjustable). My family members range from 9 to 43 and all are able to use these easily and comfortably.

Another plus is that I can fit both of them inside my minivan along with 2 passengers! We are looking forward to taking them to other lakes in the area to kayak.

i use this kyak in lakes and ponds and places other than the ocean. although this is an ocean kayak I've tried it in the ocean and it was OK. this boat is slow. uncomfortable. not hydrodynamic. not well built. this thing is a monster. it is light. and is fairly very light. i suggest never even looking at buying this kayak it is so awful. i also strongly suggest that if you decide to buy this you get an IQ test as well as your head examined because you will regret ever making that decision. please if you want to buy a kayak choose something else.

The other kayaks in our group are all Tamaracks and our Lotus could not keep up. We had to paddle non stop to try and keep up with them. We are happy with how it handled and like the carry handle on the Lotus better than the Tamarack but was wore out by the end of the day trying to keep up with the group. I also like the color of the Lotus better but color doesn't help it float.

We own two of these kayaks. They're super stable, especially when bringing kids along. Our boys (4 and 5) like to ride way up front and put their feet in.

They are not super fast and heavy to transport, but we think the stability far outweighs this problem. We've also rigged a couple of old duffel bag straps to carry them to and from the water.
