It's a 2-piece paddle constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum with asymmetrical, curved polypropylene blades for incredibly lightweight performance. Vinyl-covered grips on either end of the paddle keep water from dripping down the shaft and onto his or her hard-working arms.

    I bought this paddle to go with the joint birthday kayak I bought my 5 year old nephew and 8 year old niece. We used it with the kayak for a week straight recently and it was great as well as a good value. It was easy for the kids to manage, easy for grown-ups, and you can detach it to use as two pieces if you want or for easy storage.

          11 year old grandson loved this kayak. His friends have some also. He can paddle around lake by himself and his lab swims along at his side. He can flip it over and stand on it and makes himself a paddle board with it. Seems to be quite durable... time will tell.
