red led is WORTHLESS/

By ramjet

from Tennessee

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

The white light might be OK, but the main reason I bought it was for the red light. The red light is worthless in this light with new batteries. I can't imagine what it would be with them running down. with new batteries you can't see six feet in front of you. inside a tent might be OK, but outside? forgetaboutit. I paid full price for it, but wish I lived closer so I could take it back. an 1.5 hour trip one way just isn't worth it.

Nice

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

I didn't want to buy the same one my wife did. I liked black. Although hers has a little pad to rest against the forehead, I don't know if that would make it comfortable or not. I do like the way mine diffuses the light and it offers plenty for walking after dark. I found my wife's was annoying to my peripheral vision because of its brightness.

Drains batteries when not in use.

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

Would it a great headlamp if it didn't drain batteries while not in use. With fresh batteries I really like this lamp, but put it away for a week with brand new batteries in it and it'll be close to useless when you next reach for it.

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

I work back stage helping with costume changes in the theatre. For this most recent show, I needed a light AND both hands available. The headlamp I bought works PERFECTLY! It gives me enough light to see and do all the work I need to in the dark!

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

I used it at a rivercamp where I guide whitewater rafting trips. The red light feature is great when others are present to see yet not glare them out. It is light & durable.

Comments about PRINCETON TEC Byte Headlamp:

This headlamp is very compact and light. Its not going to weigh you down while you are hiking or backpacking and fits very nicely on your head. The beam of light is very wide and lights up to a great distance. It also comes with a red LED for night vision to find things in a small proximity which is great for not waking other people in your tent. There is also another feature where you can have the light on partially or fully to conserve battery, which is great if you plan on having it on for an extended period of time. I would suggest getting one for friends or family who like to spend time outdoors because they will definately get their use out of it.
