Comments about U.S DIVERS U.S. DIVERS Adult Island Dry Standard Snorkel:

I have taught a 70 year old man to swim in the last year. He had huge health problems and was afraid of deep water and never learned to swim. He is a swimming fool now and I rewarded him wit a new good snorkel of his own. He loves it

The clip that attaches to the goggles broke the first time I used it. Old plastic or bad plastic, I'm not sure. But it doesn't work without that clip.

Comments about U.S DIVERS U.S. DIVERS Adult Island Dry Standard Snorkel:

I like snorkeling, but I hate accidentally getting water in my pipe. This product solves that problem. It really does close when you dive underwater, and, used properly, it keeps water out even from waves.

I did get some water in the pipe from trying to inhale while the top of the snorkel was underwater. (I didn't know the top was underwater. Depending on how you fit the snorkel to your mask, it can tilt and be underwater even if you haven't dived.) However, only a little water got in and then the valve shut. Also, after some adjustment, I was able to keep the snorkel above water when I wasn't diving.

It also has a holding chamber below the mouthpiece so that you can breathe even with some water in the pipe. Furthermore, by exhaling quickly, you can blow the excess water out.

My only complaint about the snorkel is that once in awhile it will close when you are trying to inhale even though the top is above water. However, a quick exhale will open the valve and allow you to inhale again. (Once I had to exhale quickly twice in a row to open the valve.) This is the only reason the snorkel didn't get a 5-star rating from me.

Comments about U.S DIVERS U.S. DIVERS Adult Island Dry Standard Snorkel:

My daughters and I all used this snorkel for a week of snorkeling in the caribbean. It performed well, and did it's job almost perfectly. Kept water out about 90% of the time. One thing I didn't like is the stiffness of the clear flexible tube. It is meant to be soft so that it falls away from your mouth when you don't need it. This one has a tendency to stay too close, since it's not soft enough to drop away. other than that it performed well. I got ours for 5 dollars less. If I was going to pay the 20.00, I would elect to move up to the Tusa Snorkel at the 25 dollar price. Much softer in the flex tube and a nice softer mouthpiece too. The Tusa is noticable better when you can compare them out of the package. I would have gone with the Tusa for us, but there was only one available at the store (wife used that one). Still this snorkel does it's job well, just not as well as some others for about the same price. My recommendation would have to go to the Tusa snorkel. I may even get 3 more Tusa's, and keep these US Divers as back ups.
