When I first put the shoe on and pulled the laces to gently tie the shoe, the top loop holding the lace came unstitched. I was surprised as I have never had trouble with Merrill's quality before. I was leaving for the rainforest in Costa Rica the next day so I sewed it myself with thread and it held for my trip into the jungle. Think Merrill need to rework this one a bit. The shoe is very comfortable and I was able to hike in the mud on very rugged trails. I just don't trust the loops that hold the laces :-(

I loved the look of this shoe but just wearing them around the house for a few days had my feet aching. I bought the 9 when I usually wear a 8.5 but the fit was just right. The pain came from the front of my ankle area. There is no cushion along the eyelets and the well padded tongue does not cover under them. I was mostly disappointed because they were so pretty and looked so good on my feet. Oh well. I bought them from a local store not SA so they went back to the store.

I tried this pair on at another store before I bought them. They seem to run about 1 inch off. I am usually a 9 and the 8's fit me.

Excellent in the snow, my foot stayed nice and dry. I have not seen them for much less anywhere on the web.
