If I have one complaint, it's that when set to a low weight they are larger than an equivalent light dumbell, which may make them a little unwieldy for certain exercises. That said, I find I can do a full range of dumbell exercises quite easily.
They are apparently a little fragile, as the included DVD (which is a great bonus, btw) stresses not to drop them on the floor like you might a normal dumbell. Of course, I wouldn't recommend throwing any weights around unless you don't care about your equipment or your floors.
Overally, I would highly recommend these as a great solution for anybody looking to add free weights to their home gym without filling a room with a dumbell rack.

i liked having the weights adjustable so it all together, but it also the part that broke. The plastic part that holds the weight plate on broke off so the weight now is entirely useless b/c can't hold the weights on it. shame b/c they worked nicely for a while. also the plates all have to fit in exactly the correct way for the adjustable wt. selector to hold on. plus hard to slide the dial too. Wish I could figure out how to replace the part since it only the handle with plastic thing that is cracked.

This Bowflex dumbbells product is amazing. so far no complaint. i have been using it for about 4 months already. to be honest, guys, whatever you buy you have to take care of it. they are not indestructible, but if you take care of them, meaning that you would not drop them on the floor after each set you do, they look like they can last very long. also, you can perform a variety of exercises by following the DVD it comes with. For the most part, it is very convenient because it saves a lot of room in the house. one thing that i consider may go against it is that they are kind of expensive-- at the beginning i thought that at this price they would at least come with a stand , but they didnt. Other than this, i have no problem. i have mine, now is your turn...

I have used these for about two years now and I disagree with the Gold's dumbbells being better. I find them difficult to adjust even when the plates are lined up properly and they are not as easy to line up in the first place. The Bowflex dumbbell plates on the other hand drop in to their slots easily and align on their own thanks to their nylon coating that makes them slide easily. When replacing the dumbbells on the rack, they drop in place and line up on their own. Even if the dumbbell is rotated from its proper position, it will rotate back and drop into the slot when you let go. I have had no problems with the plastic coating breaking and I do no baby them - but I don't drop them on the floor either. The Gold's are not a bad set, but the Bowflex are better made and easier to adjust.
On the negative side, yes, they can be bulky on the lower weights since the bar doesn't change regardless of how much weight is on it. I consider this a fair trade off since you are getting a full range of dumbbells from 5 - 52.5 pounds in one package. Some don't like that you have to re-rack them to change the weight, but if you have a full set of individual dumbbells, you have to do that anyway. And the locking mechanisms is a safety feature to make sure the plates don't come off while you are using them.

Very good for home use. I wouldn't throw it around or drop it on the floor because it is going to break. Very good set if you take care of it. Im very happy with mine.

Fits perfect in the space that I have leaving room for other equipment. Bought it on sale and it came with a bench. I WOULD recommend it .I may have to get the 1090 model so if you think your gonna need heavier than 55 lbs you might want to get that instead.

I use this product 3-4 times per week for biceps, triceps, shoulders, and chest exercises. They also help to weigh down your feet when you're doing sit-ups. The best thing about this product is the space and money you save by not having to buy a full set of standard dumbbells. Yes, they only go up to 52.5 pounds, but excluding chest training, that's all you really need. Even though I was knowledgeable before, the DVD that comes with the dumbbells is extremely helpful. The biggest negative with these dumbbells, however, is that you can't drop them like standard dumbbells. But realistically, you're not going to need to suddenly drop anything less than 50 pounds.

Have been using these for several years now. Fantastic! They are easy to use and save lots of space. Here's what you should do...buy a set of these, a small bench, and a pull-up bar and you are all set! No excuses now...
