Breaks after 6 months of use

By West Coaster

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

No, I didn't use it to pound nails or go John McEnroe on it. I've had this happen to the last 3 Wilson racquets I've purchased at Sports Authority. I'm only a 3.0 player, so it's not like I'm hitting like a pro. Yeah, sure, I play 4-8 hours a week, but really, should that matter? It breaks across the frame just above the widest part - usually on both sides. I've sent the most recent one back to Wilson (1 yr. warranty) asking why their racquets break so much. Haven't heard back yet - or gotten my replacement racquet.

Happy with my new "toy"

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

Plenty of power and accuracy while serving. Took only one 2 hour doubles match to get comfortable with my new racquet. I definitely see an improvement in blocking shots at the net and effortless volleys...it's a keeper!!

Big sweet spot, good power

By PAK

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

I play with a lot of spin and angles. This racquet adds some power, which is always welcome. And the very large sweet spot helps when reaching for a shot wide of my body. Very happy with the results.

Not recommended!

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

I play tennis 3x a week for about 2hrs each time. I bought a quality string at Sports Authority and had it strung by the people over there. The string broke within my 4th day playing. I thought it was probably the string, so I bought a quality string online through Black Mamba and had the people use my string on the racquet instead. This time, it lasted me two weeks. I do not recommend this racquet as the style does not work well on strings (the stringing pattern is not common). VERY EASY to break. Luckily, the people were nice enough to let me exchange for a new racquet.

Breaks after 6 months

By tennisKeith

from portland, or

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

This racquet, like all the other Wilson racquets I've purchased at Sports Authority breaks at the mid-point of hte frame after about 6 months of regular use. I suspect Wilson is creating these racquets out of inferior materials to make them more cheaply for Sports Authority.

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

i have both a Babolat and a Wilson Juice that are great Racquets but my favorite is the K Zero! After playing with it for a while i see why it Originally sold for over $300.00. the power is incredible yet is extremely accurate as well! i agree with others who've said on here that you must be crazy not to like this stick!! to date, i have never lost a set when i've played with the Wilson K Zero, (including Doubles) and it shoots bullets from the baseline that i've scored many points on. it's not as good for Volleys at the net like the Juice is but it's still decent. for those who don't like it, other than the breakage complaints, because you tend to hit it too far, you have to put top spin to keep the ball down. if you hit flat then of course, with its power, you'll hit out every time! I love this racquet and mine is in now getting better quality strings put on!

    String Failure

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

As a daily user as a Freshman on a high school team, this racquet is seeing 2-4 hours per day use. As a freshman, the competition level is not too intense and not many players have developed a "power" game, myself included. None the less, the strings broke on week two and I replaced them ASAP to keep up with practices and matches. Two weeks later, the strings broke again…and once again, for absolutely no good reason as the level of play is not intense at all and I am careful with this racquet. My former racquet that I was using has had the original strings for two plus years under similar playing conditions! So, is it the frame or is it the strings? This is a nuisance and simply should not be happening, especially at this level of play and for a racquet of this quality.

Comments about WILSON K Zero 118 Tennis Racquet:

When I purchase a racquet I like I always purchase a second one and use them both equally. I bought two K Zero racquets in June of 2010 and one of them suffered a cracked frame within the first year. This was subsequently replaced by Wilson under their 1 year warranty. The second one has just succumbed to the same fate. the frame has cracked. This is due to just normal use and not abuse. I do not hit my rackets on the court or anywhere else. Wilson says this is not a common problem for their K Zero but I find it hard to believe that I am the only one to have this occur.
