i have tried all 3 McDavid knee supports - level 3 had a hinge that was "too heavy" and tended to pull my knee out of whack; level 1 wasn't supportive enough for my needs; level 2 is working well for me - but it is time-consuming to put on (6 straps altogether), the velcro tends to make the multiple straps stick to each other, no instructions were included about how the straps are meant to function, it tends to bunch up behind my knee (making it uncomfortable), the knee hole also tends to bunch (doesn't lay flat, like the level 3 did), it's very tight and difficult to take off (which the level 3 wasn't), it doesn't fit as loose around the calf as other XL's (i've tried all 3 styles - so i know the difference!), it's so compressive that it makes my knee swell up - if worn for longer than 3-4 hours, and because the X straps fit so securely - the thick upper/lower straps add "unnecessary" bulkiness...but the main thing - is that it works to keep my knee stable and happy, and comes in an XL size (which is hard to find!) although, it seems to fit more like an L (making me wonder, if mine was mis-marked?) but overall, the X-straps help to keep my knee stablized, the side stays offer just the right amount of lateral support, and i an able to trust that no additional harm will befall my knee while i am wearing it!
