Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

My in-laws bought this sleeping bag for my 11-year old son. I do a lot of backpacking, climbing, etc. and tend to buy quality products where it matters most, like sleeping bags. That being said, I thought this bag would be ok for my son on car-camping trips and the like. It keeps him warm, but after only a few nights the liner started to come apart at the seams (as in 10 inches worth). I took it back to our local Sports Authority, and they replaced it with a new one. However, the second one has also started falling apart at the seams after only a few trips. Don't waste your money.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

The bag is an excellent choice for a spring and summer carry. Its a bit bulky for packing on the inside of your bag, but its not very heavy.

I used it on hikes in Alaska in the spring/summer time frame and it held up nicely in the temp ranges between 40-70 degrees. The people that complain that they are "still too cold" need to understand that a bag's rating isn't to ensure complete warm at its rating. The bag os meant to keep you warm by trapping your body heat and keep you alive.

Great bag for its money value.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

My teenaged son has used this bag dozens of times over the past three years on scout treks. The bag has held up great--no tears or snagging zippers at all. It's kept him warm through frigid nights in the upper 20s and 30s. (Remember that the 20 degree rating is for survival, not comfort. Add 15 degrees for comfort level.) His only complaint is that it's bulky for backpacking, and he now wants a lighter bag for ultralight backpacking. But for the price, it's been perfect for his needs.

      Not a 20 degree bag!

      By DevBuch

      Pros

      • Lightweight

      Cons

      • Foam coming out
      • Not warm
      • Too small
      • zipper sticks

      Best Uses

      • Mild to warm weather

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

Got this on sale. Thought it would be a great bag for camping in 20 degree plus weather. Seemed compact and light which would be great for my 20 mile round trip hike. Says for up to 6'4". I am 6' and could barely fit in it and could never get it to close all the way. Zipper stuck multiple times and the foam started to rip out at the seams from the zipper catching. I was in 28 degree conditions and the bag was very cold even with 3 to 4 layers on my torso, legs, and feet.

I got this bag on sale. This bag is very narrow at the torso/shoulder area. I will get a better bag.

      Cheaply built

      By ali

      from san diego

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

Reasonably warm, but I'm not sure 20 degrees is realistic. I used it in 35 degree weather, and I was definitely feeling the cold. The inside lining is so cheap, too. The 2nd time I used it, it developed a huge rip along the inside seam. Still keeps me sort of warm, but hands and feet have a tendency to get tangled in the torn seam, which can get uncomfortable.

      Made cheap.

      By Erik

      from Orange, CT

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Men's 20-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag:

I used this product indoors three times and the inside developed a hude tear down the seem with the stuffing coming out. Tried to return it more than 30 days later and they said that they can not do anything about it. The outside is nice, and keeps you warm, but the zipper gets stuck as well. I would spend the extra money on something made better.
