Great quality but a bit stiff

I bought these for my seven year old son for flag football. He complained that they were uncomfortable and tough to bend his fingers with the gloves on. They seem to be great quality gloves but I can't seem to get him to wear them enough to wear them in. The tacky palm guard seems to provide a tight grip and the gloves themselves are form fitting and good quality.
