These shoes lived up to the good reviews on other sites. I'm very happy to have these shoes. They fit great right out of the box and didn't need much break-in time. They have worked great hiking in hot, dry, rocky areas.

I bought these shoes on a weekend trip to the mountains because I forgot to pack shoes and only wore flip flops. Since then, I've used them for day hikes on rugged terrain, fishing and when we have snow and ice as they are really anti-slip, even when the soles get wet. No break in time was required for this shoe. It was great right out of the box for general wear and use. The shoe is very light, but it's stiff, which I have found helpful in rocky terrain. I wear arch supports, and they fit comfortably into the shoe along with the pad that sits over the support. I have narrow feet and found that the shoe was slightly wide for me, but most shoes are. The biggest problem I have with these shoes is that the length of the shoe is not true to size. When hiking down hill, my toes jam against the end of the shoe and it's very painful. After a recent 4 mile hike, my toes hurt so bad I could barely stand to wear shoes at all for the next couple of days. I think that if I had a half size larger it would help. I wear a size 9, but in these I need a size 9.5, even though the shoes would be even wider then. Because these are low around the ankle, like a tennis shoe, there's not a lot of ankle support when you're on rugged terrain. The design of the outer sole prevents turning your ankle on regular terrain, but when hiking over rocky, uneven surfaces, I have consistently turned my ankles. Out of frustration, I am now moving to a mid hiking boot to prevent further ankle problems. I would buy these again, but only for light, easy hikes or to deal with snow and ice.

I bought these for my summer in Alaska and have worn them hiking and backpacking several places already. I ordered them a half size larger than my usual size because they seemed a little tight and I needed to be able to wear them with warm socks. I have found them to be very comfortable with no break in period. The laces need to be double knoted to stay tied but that is not a big deal to me. I have been very pleased with them so far.

These shoes are awesome , no break in required . I can hike all day in them with no problems. I have large wide feet and they fit very well. I honestly can not find anything negative to say about them.

VERY COMFORTABLE FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR WORKOUTS AT THE MOMENT, AND MY FEET DON'T FALL ASLEEP, NO BREAK IN PERIOD, BUILT REALLY WELL. JUST A BIT PRICEY FOR BEING A SHOE.

I bought these shoes last summer to go on a trip to the Grand Canyon. We had to cancel the trip back in the fall, but hoping to go soon. I've been wearing the shoes to break them in and they are comfortable and what I had hoped they would be in fit, BUT the shoelaces will not stay tied. These are expensive shoes and why the manufacturer does not invest in good laces is a mystery. My husband says to double tie, but I shouldn't have to do that for a quality shoe. I may trade out the laces before our trip, but shouldn't have to do that either...

Got these shoes for a hiking trip in November - thought I'd need to break them in so I've been wearing them to work. Absolutely comfortable from the first time I put them on, good support, cushioning, etc. Way more comfortable than my good tennis shoes. I may never buy anything but Merrell's again.
