Great for beginners!

Comments about Sun Dolphin Aruba 8' ss sit-in Kayak:

I really have enjoyed this kayak!! I am a beginner and really bought it for the price and length. I wanted something that would fit inside my Nissan Rogue, so I could only really go for 8' boats. Overall I am very happy with it so far, I have taken it out a total of three times, the last trip was an 11 mile float down a Class I river. It took 4 hours, my butt was hurting at the end so I plan on getting a cushion for the seat eventually. I do agree with previous reviews that the plastic can be a bit sharp, but nothing a little padding can't fix. I think the stability is very good and its easy to maneuver.

I do wish that it came with foot braces, it would make just that much better. The only other thing I wish was bigger was the waterproof storage area, its so tiny!! Just a bit bigger and again it would have made it better. For these reasons I did give it a 4.

I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to any other beginners.

Comments about Sun Dolphin Aruba 8' ss sit-in Kayak:

We bought two of these. We love them! We take them everywhere, the inland waterway, the gulf and rivers here in Florida, and the lakes in NH. Two eight footers fit in our Dodge Caravan perfectly. The plastic is a bit rough so we glued some pipe wrap on the edge and that took care of it. I think they are very easy to handle and carry. They weigh 27 pounds. Bang for the buck you cannot beat it!

Comments about Sun Dolphin Aruba 8' ss sit-in Kayak:

I bought two of these for my family. I have to say that they have really lived up to my expectations. I have found them to be incredibly stable and quite the reverse of tippy. My son, who had never previously kayaked, took to this boat with ease and was paddling easily with me after only a few minutes. Unless you are standing up in this kayak, I can't imagine how you could tip it since it is so wide at the middle.

There are some hard edges at the cutout for the seating area and that is unfortunate because just folding over the plastic edge would have solved this. Since that is a place for a natural handle when one person is carrying it, it is doubly unfortunate.

But all-in-all this is a great little kayak for casual use on a pond, lake or meandering river, for fishing, exercise, sightseeing. It fits in my SUV easily (in fact I can get two in through the rear).

Comments about Sun Dolphin Aruba 8' ss sit-in Kayak:

I bought this because it was so cheap, but ended up taking it back. We took it out on a calm lake and everyone, from adults to kids, that tried it felt that it had a "tippy" feeling. You really had to work on balancing your weight or it would rock from side to side. I know it's a boat, but no other kayak I've ever used had this sensation. The plastic on it is cheap and thin. It has a 5 year warranty but there is no way it would last that long. I sliced my finger on the plastic while carrying it. It's difficult to get the water out when you are done. I removed one of the rubber plugs, but it was impossible to get the thing back in. It would eventually fall out and get lost. This thing looks a lot like higher priced models, but trust me, there's a reason it's cheap.
