Best Uses

Comments about S.A. GEAR 4' x 8' Commercial Bonded Foam Mat:

Needed a high density foam mat to do floor exercises on my hardwood basement floor, which of course is on a slab so there is no give to that floor at all. In the past I had a smaller 2" mat similar in construction and density but it was only 2x6 and folded in half making it 2x3 so I could do sit-ups, etc, without grinding my tailbone down. Finally decided to look for a replacement that was larger, and thinking that I needed to go double the thickness as before (effectively using a 4" thickness when folded in half), I got this and was overwelmed. I probably could have gone with just the 2" thickness and gotten something that was 3x6 when completely unfolded. The density of the foam is quite high IMO. I think this is going to work out great.

I see the previous review had a problem with the product vinyl cover being stuck together where two surfaces are folded together. Mine was like that too, but I did not have any tearing of the cover. I was careful to separate the surfaces slowly. It must be part of the production process and gives it that chemical smell, which is not very strong and I think (hope) will fade away or can be wiped down. Once the surfaces are separated, they no longer stick. The carrying strap/handle is not anything to brag about, pretty minimal and awkward to put on, but I wont have a need for it as I will fold it up and put it in the closet and back out again when I need it, so I won't dis them on that part of the product.

All in all its a fine product, and with free shipping and 20% discount, I paid $10 dollars less than the posted price, with state tax included. I think its better than the cheaper mats sold by SA (which I checked out at the local store here) if you are concerned about foam density.

Comments about S.A. GEAR 4' x 8' Commercial Bonded Foam Mat:

This product came folded together. The vinyl surfaces were so stuck together that the cover actually tore trying to unfold the mat. Pathetic but not worth sending back. Just turned the mat over to use the untorn surface.
