Good but too expensive

Comments about Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor:

I bought the FT7 when I found out my insurance had run out for my cardio rehab sessions & I would loose access to the wireless ECG monitors unless I wanted to pay $400/mo. I mostly need a heart rate monitor so I don't care if it doesn't have any other bells & whistles like the FitBit.(Congestive Heart Failure & on waiting list for a transplant)
The FT7 works as advertised & has a high Cool Factor. It's extremely lightweight & easy to set up. Controls are slightly clunky at first but fine after using it for a bit. Readout is easy to see but "Training Files" are smaller font & I needed reading glasses to see it. (YMMV) The included chest strap is lightweight, fully adjustable, comfortable & stays right where you put it. Sweat actually helps sensitivity of the sensors. The FT7 transmitter talks to the watch using a proprietary wireless protocol which will also talk to some exercise machines. If you want Bluetooth you can get the H7 chest strap for about half the price of the FT7 & it will talk to your phone & also most of the same exercise machines.

A bit expensive for what it does (in my opinion). The FT4 is essentially the same unit at about 1/2 the price but only has memory for 10 workouts - the FT7 will hold 99. For the price I feel this should come with some way to upload to your PC or MAC for trending or even a graph or printout. I shouldn't have to buy an optional dongle (FlowLink $55) to upload my data to their private but free website. Does not talk Bluetooth.

That being said, I like the FT7 & it functions just fine. I also bought the H7 & it is flawless as well. Both transmitters use the same chest strap so I can swap them out when I need to monitor with the watch or the iPhone 6.

Hope this helps.
