Comments about Old Town Canoe Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:

This is my first kayak. I researched for months in an attempt to decide which type and size would best suit my needs. I was wanting to cruise, fish and be able to haul gear. I went with the Vapor 10 sit in style. With the large opening it gives you an easy enter exit and manuverability while on the water. Providing a dry ride in moderate chop it also provides protection from the wind on those cold days. Pleanty of room for back pack, ice chest, fishing gear and it stays dry. I am 6', 210 lbs and this boat has pleanty of room. I would reccoment getting the longest paddle you can, especially if you will be on flat water. Not a speed demon, but tracks well and is very stable when sitting still. I added rod holders with eaze. I use this boat on average 3 times a week on flat lake water and just absolutley love it. Well built, high quality finish and a decent adjustable seat. Light weight and easy to load. I transport in back of pick up with tail gate down. It hangs off gate about 18". The oot rests are easily adjusted as is the back rest. A great all around performer. I absolutely love this kayak.

Comments about Old Town Canoe Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:

I got this kayak at local Sports Authority store. I looked for kayak that was short so I could transport and lift it by myself easy (considering I'm petite female). It's really awesome kayak considering how cheap it is and that it's only 10 ft. Of course this is not skinny long kayak that slices through the water, but instead short and wide kayak. This means, you gotta put in some serious paddling power to go as fast as 16 ft long skinny kayak. Despite that fact, I still love this kayak and have been with it on the lakes, ocean, rivers, springs etc paddling for 15 miles in one day... and had a blast using it every time! It's really great and it steers very decent for a shorty! If you don't want to paddle much or you want to move very fast in the water...go with long skinny expensive kayak.

Comments about Old Town Canoe Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:

I chose this kayak over many others because of its nice large open seating area. I wanted a sit on kayak for fishing, but found out that most I wanted had problems with taking on water. I did not want a sit in because it would be too hard to move around to get to my fishing tackle. The vapor 10 offers the stability and dryness of a sit in yak, but also gives you the room to move around like a sit on top. It is very easy to get in out of this yak, no matter where you decide to launch from. It is very stable in the water and allows you to move around fishing without worry of tipping over. Some say it does not track well, I am not sure what their problem is. I found it to do just fine, your paddles and paddling style makes a big difference. Of course it will not track like a large touring kayak. Because of the large seating area you will need the longest paddles you can find, the longer the better. I have never used a kayak before, and yet in 10min I was cruising around fishing just fine. I also think the size is just perfect for what I wanted (not to big or small). The only bad thing is the drain plug location, you will hit your elbow on it a few times. Plus its hard to get the yak in just the right angle to get all the water out. I assume Old Town did this for the people who carry there yaks on top of the car on there sides. This way water would drain as you drive home. I actualy use the plug to tie off my fish stringer. All said and done with, I love this yak and will use for many fishing trips.
