Comments about Lifetime Kokanee Tandem Sit-on-Top Kayak:

Saw other good reviews that noted just one negative - weight. You will never throw it up on your roof rack by yourself.

We took that under advisement and bought it anyway. Handles great, comfortable ride and lots of fun. It weighs more because it's solidly built. We go salt water estuaries, etc and require a durable hull - sometimes we scrape bottom a bit going over oyster beds at low tide. Remember - less weight, thinner hull.

You don't really feel like you're sitting on top - it feels like you're sitting in a boat. We heard a couple comments about the seats not being heavy duty so we didn't drop our full weight in - just used them for lumbar support. But for the price, we could always upgrade the seats later.

Here's how we overcame the weight - we got a roller style kayak loader. You just tip the kayak onto the concave rubber roller, then roll it up from behind. Rolls back down even easier. Got pads for the roof rack so the boat goes straight up and stores right side up. You won't want to wrestle it to bow side up. Sports Authority doesn't sell these so you'll have to come prepared.

This is a sturdy, great entry level kayak for a great price. We couldn't find a decent used kayak for this price.

Comments about Lifetime Kokanee Tandem Sit-on-Top Kayak:

We bought one of these kayaks to use in the Outer Banks last year and it was great. Very stable and easily took two foot waves in the surf. You can actually stand in this kayak and take two adults plus a child. But when we returned to Missouri, I found no practical application for it. For lake kayaking, it trudges through the water with difficulty and I would never take it in an Ozark stream--it's simply not meant for that. It is also very HEAVY and two adults are needed to remove it from a car top carrier. I would suggest a kayak dolly--make your own, it's easy and lots of instructional videos on google. Anyway, we sold it on Craig's List and I recovered most of the price as we had bought it on sale. That being said, we had a wonderful time with this kayak in the ocean.

Comments about Lifetime Kokanee Tandem Sit-on-Top Kayak:

Lifetime (the manufacturer) sells a kayak carrying strap so one person can carry this kayak without adding retrofit handles. Lifetime also sells a sail kit that can easily mount into a DIY socket made to fit the cup holder on this deck. The rear end of this kayak is perfect as a kicking platform (in lieu of mounting a motor). I would buy a 215 cm curved blade paddle for this kayak due to it's width. That should work for stand up paddling as well. (Tell me if I'm wrong.) If I were going to add two retrofit handles to this, I would consider locating them at sides of rear seat where they would be in reach of kicking platform when rear seat is folded down. This kayak is wide enough for stand up paddling or for a dog to be standing. I kayak with my 33 lb. dog which wants me to hold her. She is not likely to tip this kayak by standing up or getting too close to the edge. The plastic may get too hot for her feet. I will have to add some carpeted surface for her comfort. This product closely matches my intended use with less retrofit effort/investment than my current kayak. It also is priced much more affordably than the high end SUPs.

A very nice kayak for the money. With two yound children, we really appreciate the stability and dry storage areas. I would have given it five stars, but they are a bit heavy and could really use a different handle in the rear.
