Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Mesa 6 Speed Up Tent:

Used this tent for super hot Southern California desert festival camping. Took up the full width of the camp site for maximum sleeping capacity in a shelter. The car took up the other half of the campsite - snug fit.

We were super focused when putting this beast of a tent up and followed the 1-2-3 instructions, our up time was under a minute with two people. The trick for us was to extend the center poles first and then the vertical poles. Do the take-down opposite: drop the legs first and then collapse the center poles. Not intuitive, but effective.

The wind took the rainfly once and when we chased it down it went back on just fine. We found that sleeping in the first morning that the the tent was super bright. A neighbor gifted us a tarp and we put it over the top to get total sun occlusion over the rainfly so that we didn't get heat stroke from too much sun exposure. Next time we'll use a space blanket or something that works well with our solar lights.

Overall sturdy shelter in the high winds, with a big footprint that slept upwards of 8 people at times but that might not be acceptable in the Puritan reality.

It could use better airflow and improve the rainfly fabric to block the sun out more. Other than that it was a good value.

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Mesa 6 Speed Up Tent:

Purchased this tent for a family camping trip to Yellowstone. Bought the tent, set it up in the garage before leaving - noticed a hole in the top of the tent. Took it back to Sport Authority and they switched it out no issue.

Set the tent up in Yellowstone - had issues with two of the legs not wanting to extend or lock in place. Tent door is difficult to use - flaps get caught in the zipper and I had to move the front stakes to get enough slack to easily zip the door - otherwise it is a two person job.

Used the tent for 3 nights - no issues (other than the door). When I was taking the tent down - one of the legs would not move. It took some time to get the leg closed. Very frustrated with this tent. Took it back the day after I got back home. Sports Authority was great about the whole process.

Used this tent camping with a family of 4. Spaciouse enough for our needs. Easy to set up, about 15 min between the two of us.
Dislike that the top of the tent was always uneven.
Also the front is so tight have to unhook a couple hooks from the bars in order to zip and unzip door.
Lasted almost a year before the rain fly pole snapped. Dissapointing considering we only used the tent 6 times.

Set tent today. Returning it!!! Cheapo zippers bad design. Get stuck. Telescoping poles hard to extend. Really thin floor. Glad I tested it at home and didn't find out on a camping trip.

Oh, and it took 15 minutes to set up and 10 to take down and pack in the bag. I didn't realize this wasn't Coleman. It is Alpine Design. Went online and read reviews AFTER I tested it. Wish I'd done some research first but at least I can get my money back.

Used it this last 5 days. I guess I was naive when I read about 3 minute set up. Still have to stake it in and rain fly. I have a small vehicle and had to carry it diagonally in trunk thus taking up even more. Very heavy if you need to carry it a distance. Normal tents set up just as fast. Huge door to zip open/shut. The first night the door zipper was snagged after leaving tent. Morning time I fixed it but snagged almost every other time...especially when kids used it. Rain was approaching as we broke camp. I had to throw it into the backseat with folded down front seat to get it in before getting wet (with door zipper jammed). When I got home it took about 40 minutes to put back into its case as the collapsible pole button didn't work. I had to take it apart to push the button in order to collapse the pole. Unfortunately I was working on a driveway and put a hole in the tent floor. I don't want to use it again!

Comments about ALPINE DESIGN Mesa 6 Speed Up Tent:

I purchased the ALPINE DESIGN Mesa 6 Speed Up Tent at the Sports Authority in Mission Viejo, CA. A number of poles need to be extended to set it up. However, the tolerance between the inner and outer poles was far too tight for them to operate properly. The smaller diameter poles which are inside larger diameter poles are supposed to slide in and out. When fully extended a small metal button retainer is supposed to click into place in a hole to hold them, and upon pressing the button you are supposed to be able to collapse the poles for subsequent take-down but the poles were too tight to do this. I developed a blister trying to set it up, and was only able to extend the poles by use of either a large rubber mallet, or a ball peen hammer with straight-end steel punch to coax them back and forth. I even tried lubricating between the inner and outer poles as well as buff-sanding, with fine sand paper, the inside and outside of the poles, after painstakingly disassembling and reassembling the poles from each other, all to no avail, they still stuck. I returned the tent for a refund. The staff was friendly about the whole thing. The product deserves zero stars because the it was unusable, but at least one star is needed to complete the review.
