Comments about Alpine Design Men's Switchback Low Hiker Shoes:

Definitely the most comfortable hiking shoes I've ever worn. They didn't even need a breaking-in period. I also like the style - they look great! How they hold up in the long term remains to be seen, but I'm impressed so far.

Comments about Alpine Design Men's Switchback Low Hiker Shoes:

I like these shoes . . . they just did Zion and Bryce Canyon NP's and lived to tell about it. My biggest issue is with how the manufacture designed the stringing of the laces. The very last connection to the shoe is weak loop of material. This point takes a tremendous amount of stress when one is tying the shoes as you tend to pull the laces tighten the shoe around your foot. I've broken 2 of the straps while putting the shoes on. Every other shoe I've owned had an eyelet (a reinforced hole) to take the stress of pulling the shoe laces tight. I ended up making my own holes in the shoes to accommodate this issue. All of this occurred in the first month of ownership. I'll recommend this product with the caveat to either be gentle at pulling your laces tight or just drill holes and bypass the weak strap.
